Garden

Steps from house to garden: fifteen. The garden is one acre in size and has various levels. There is a seating area outside the East Wing with benches for those who do not want to visit the garden. Parents with small children should note there is a small pond in the garden. We also keep chickens and visitors are welcome to free range eggs when available. In a restricted area we also keep bees. We have an array of solar panels at the end of the garden which provide electricity to the house and these are part of our overall plan to make the house as self sustainable as possible.

Additional Information

The East Wing of Clatterford House is a listed building and as such provides interesting accommodation from an architectural point of view but as a result is not able to provide the accessibility standards of a modern house.

Future Plans

Each year we try to improve some aspect of the house / garden and welcome positive suggestions from our guests as to how we might make their future visits even better.

Lovely setting and spacious downstairs but bedrooms dismal - no soundproofing, doors that wouldn't close, lack of basic comforts e.g. hooks and mirrors in some bedrooms, very basic bedroom furniture - more like a hostel. Might be ok for a single family but not for couples. Very disappointing and overpriced. Cottage Rating: 1 Stars
