Property code: IC084

Set on a 35 acre farm rich in wildlife and with access to the farm’s meadow, lake and woodland, this pretty cottage has lovely views across rolling lawns and fields to the valley of the River Medina.

This detached cottage is beautifully situated in spectacular countryside with open views across rolling lawns and fields to the valley of the River Medina which gently meanders into the distance. It is a peaceful location on the 35 acre Medham Farm and visitors have open access to the private meadow lake and beautiful woodland of the farm. This is an area rich in wildlife with frogs, newts and ducks in the pond the garden overlooks. A wide range of bird life including Green Woodpeckers, Sparrow Hawks, Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, Buzzards and pheasants can be seen. Red Squirrels, foxes and badgers are also frequent visitors to the gardens. There is an ancient woodland and in the late spring five acres of Beech woodlands are carpeted with English bluebells. A wonderful array of chickens and Indian Runner Ducks roam freely on the farm as well as sheep.

This is wonderful walking and cycling area with easy access to a cycle track which follows the course of the river towards the market town of Newport with its attractive harbour, arts centre, shops and the medieval castle of Carisbrooke. The opposite route follows the old railway track along the River Medina, now a nature trail, and an eight-minute bike ride takes you to Cowes town centre; a world famous sailing centre with a central pedestrian area, excellent restaurants and boutique shops. The floating bridge can be taken from here to East Cowes, and within a short walk/cycle is Osborne House, the island home of Queen Victoria. Visitors can also follow the attractive promenade to Gurnard; a small coastal hamlet.

This lovely cottage enjoys an attractive position with its own gated access. There are delightful open views from all of the main rooms of the cottage. There is an open plan sitting room with a big deep sofa, arm chair, flat screen Smart television and DVD player and a CD/Radio/Mini disk player. The kitchen has been well-equipped with fitted units, an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with ice box, separate freezer, Nespresso coffee machine and a washing machine. There is a ground floor W.W and separate shower room with a built in shower and basin.

Stairs lead up from the sitting room into a spacious bedroom; a light and airy room with a king-size bed, fitted wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with a bath, hand shower, basin and W.C. A travel cot, high chair and a folding bed, which is only suitable for children, can be provided if required. WiFi internet access is available.

Medham Farm Cottage has an attractive terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue. There is also a large lawned area in front of the cottage which is a secluded spot to relax whilst enjoying the views or to play games. The open plan gardens are fenced and gated but are not secure. Children and dogs do need to be closely supervised in the garden due to the close proximity of the unfenced pond. A car can be parked in the private gated courtyard adjacent to the cottage. There is a bus service within ten minutes walk, a pleasant riverside 30-minute stroll into Cowes, and 20-minute walk to a real ale public house for meals.

  • Sleeps 2+1
  • 1 double bedroom (a folding bed can also be provided at an additional cost of £25 and is only suitable for children)
