This charming two hundred year old cottage is situated in beautiful countryside and enjoys open views across fields to the Solent - a variety of sailing boats and cruise liners can often be seen. It is in a lovely walking and cycling area with footpaths and tracks extending in a variety of directions, including the coast at Wootton Creek, the woods of Briddlesford Copse and Arreton Downs. The cottage is in an excellent location for exploring the island with many places to visit within an easy ten-minute drive. These include the wonderful island home of Queen Victoria - Osborne House, Quarr Abbey, Havenstreet Steam Railway, the Butterfly World, a Lavender Farm, and Robin Hill Country Park. The small floating bridge at Cowes offers easy access to the shops of West Cowes and to the countryside and picturesque coves on the west side of the island. The larger east coast sandy beaches of Ryde, Appley and St Helens are also nearby.
One Dores Hill Cottage is one of a pair of cottages which has been in the same family for two generations. It has recently been renovated with great care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for two people. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard to provide a stylish and relaxing place to stay. On the ground floor there is a spacious open-plan living room with a Smart TV/Freeview/DVD - a great place to relax in front of the wood burning stove set into an inglenook fireplace. There is a dining area and a well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and small freezer. (A washing and drying service is available).
Upstairs there is a double bedroom with a king-size bed, wardrobe plus wonderful open views across fields to the sea; a bathroom with bath, overhead shower, WC and basin. Central heating, electricity and WiFi Internet are without extra charge.
The cottage has a fenced and gated garden with garden furniture so that visitors can relax in the sunshine. There is also a pretty well in the garden which in years past provided water for the cottages. A car can be parked in a parking area near the cottage. A farm shop and restaurant for lunch are within five minutes walk plus a nearby emporium with antiques and collectibles.
