Self-catering holidays in the west of the Isle of Wight

Home to some of the Isle of Wight’s most unspoilt coastline, running from the Western tip right down to the South, the West Coast is perfect for those who want to enjoy magnificent views and long lazy days at the beach. The Tennyson Heritage Coast starts at the famous Needles, three huge white chalk rocks guarded by a 19th century lighthouse, and continues right around to the South West of the Island. Its many sheltered coves and beaches are brilliant for sunbathing but also for long bracing walks with or without the dog, on cooler days.

Walkers and cyclists can enjoy the many footpaths and cycle paths; especially lovely is the village of Freshwater, which joins the sea at Freshwater Bay and is closely surrounded by Totland Bay, Colwell Bay and Alum Bay.

On the North West coast is the coastal town of Yarmouth with its small harbour and vibrant atmosphere. Home to a traditional seaside pier where you can watch the sailing boats coming into and leaving the Harbour, it is also home to an impressive castle built by Henry VIII, now owned by English Heritage and open to the public.
