St Michael’s Church in Shalfleet, 1 mile, is one of the oldest on the island and well worth a visit. The pebble beach at Alum Bay is 9 miles, where multi-coloured sand cliffs provide a unique backdrop to the clear waters and incredible views of The Needles. There’s a chair lift down to the beach and boat trips into the stunning bay. Compton Beach, 7 miles, is popular for surfing and a great place to spend a few hours hunting for fossils.
