Self-catering holiday accommodation in Acton

The village of Acton is set up high on the Purbeck Hills between Langton Matravers and Worth Matravers. A short walk from both villages, where you can find excellent pubs, Acton is really more of a hamlet secluded from daily life, snuggly packed with stone-built cottages and no through traffic allowed. It has good access to the Jurassic Coast, where you will find the iconic Durdle Door, as well as the bay of Dancing Ledge with its rocky shelves, the lowest of which forms a natural swimming pool, refreshed at each tide.

The village has wonderful views down to the neighbouring seaside resort of Swanage, known for its wonderful stretch of golden sand and natural harbour. Walkers will love the rural walk from Acton to Swanage Beach to the East and to Worth Matravers to the West. Just over six miles south of the coastal town of Poole with its natural harbour and sandy beaches, and twenty-five miles each of Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, Acton is perfectly situated to visit many areas of interest along the South Coast.
