Self-catering holiday accommodation in Purbeck, Dorset
The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsula in Dorset which is surrounded by water on three sides. To the north is Poole Bay, to the east is Bournemouth Bay and to the south is the English Channel. This beautiful part of the South Coast has been attracting holidaymakers for decades and its easy to see why, as this remote area of England feels like a foreign country, tucked away as it is with its high cliffs, country walks, ruined stone castles, steam trains, long sandy beaches, nature reserves and traditional seaside resorts. There is a generous number of walking trails around the peninsula including the Lawrence of Arabia Trail that takes in famous locations from his life.
The UNESCO Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast's most eastern stretch, originates on the Isle of Purbeck. Attracting geologists and fossil hunters alike, this is a great location if you are interested in history. Be sure to take a steam train to Corfe Castle from Swanage for one of the best day trips in the area and climb the Saxon walls in Wareham. Don't forget to go red squirrel spotting on the picture perfect Brownsea Island too. Swanage is known for its wonderful stretch of golden sand and natural harbour. You could also learn to scuba dive here too.
Whether you are looking for a luxury cottage for an indulgent escape, a coastal cottage for a seaside break with friends or a large cottage for a holiday with extended family, you are sure to find the perfect one for you in our collection of cottages across the Isle of Purbeck.
