This lovely stone cottage is beautifully situated in the grounds of Afflington Manor; a superb manor house mentioned in the Domesday book. It is surrounded by enchanting gardens, lakes and farmland - home to Alpacas, cows and sheep. The lakes in the grounds encourage a host of bird life including ducks and herons. The cottage is situated in An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Corfe Castle, renowned for the majestic ruins of the castle and pretty thatched cottages. Here, there is a National Trust shop, tea rooms, a village shop selling local produce, restaurants and public houses.

Visitors can appreciate pleasant walks directly from the cottage to the pretty Purbeck hill villages of Langton, Matravers, Worth Matravers, and Kingston where meals can be enjoyed and local ciders sampled. The Isle of Purbeck has a dramatic coastline with beautiful small bays. It is renowned for its fossils and is part of a World Heritage Site known as the Jurassic Coast. The sandy beach of the small resort of Swanage is within a ten-minute drive, where there are traditional seaside entertainments such as Punch and Judy, pedalos and fishing, as well as a diving school, and various boating activities.

Afflington Manor Lodge is one of two adjoining stone cottages which dates back over 200 years. Boasting a secluded position, there are panoramic views from the cottage over the surrounding countryside. The cottage has just been completely renovated to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for five people in three bedrooms. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard and is centrally heated.

On the ground floor there is a stylish fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator and freezer; a lovely bathroom with a bath, a large built in shower, basin, and WC; a welcoming sitting room furnished with sumptuous sofas and a flat screen television with Freeview and a DVD player There is also a spacious heated conservatory with a dining area and additional comfortable seating. Double doors open from here directly into the pretty garden.

Upstairs, the cottage has three charming bedrooms; one double room, a twin room and a single room. There are fitted wardrobes and all of the bedrooms have garden views. Central heating and electricity are without extra charge. A travel cot and high chair can be provided if required. Visitors should be aware that this is a traditional property with low doorways. WiFi connection is also available. The cottage has an enclosed garden with a beautiful weeping willow tree, a large lawn and colourful borders.

Visitors can open a gate which crosses a small stream and gives direct access to the fields and paths which can be followed across the surrounding farmland. Garden furniture is provided and there is a private parking area just outside of the garden gate where two cars can be parked. There is a bus service within a five-minute walk from the cottage and a two-minute drive takes you to a selection of village stores and a public house. A newly installed AstroTurf tennis court is now available for visitors to hire by the hour.

The cottage is very comfortable and in a great spot for touring the area. Beautiful location on a working farm - the garden was west facing and we particularly loved watching the sunsets. Perfectly situated for exploring the Isle of Purbeck both by car and on foot as footpaths/Purbeck Way adjoin the farm. Cottage was comfortable and cosy.

Had a really good week at the Lodge, good weather helped. Very comfortable and clean. The owners very kindly left us a bottle of wine, biscuits and later in the week we had some fresh eggs. Also some blackcurrant butter!! Plenty of places to visit in the area...Monkey World, Tank Museum, just a couple of nearby days out.

Gorgeous cottage in a beautfully peaceful location. Very well stocked with all the basics you need, foil, kitchen roll, loo roll, oil, salt, pepper etc etc. Our little boy loved saying hello to the chickens at the end of the garden, and getting to feed them was definitely a highlight for him!
