Self-catering holidays in the east of the Isle of Wight

The East of the Isle of Wight is home to some of the Island’s most popular seaside towns and villages, including Ryde, Seaview, Bembridge, Sandown and Shanklin. Known for its long sandy beaches and traditional resorts, it makes for a wonderful family holiday at any time of year.

The area has a great selection of historic towns and villages, as well as numerous footpaths and cycle tracks to explore. Visit the Old Town in Shanklin, whose charming thatched cottages and pretty tearooms make a wonderful day out – and don’t forget to visit the renowned Pencil Cottage Tea Garden while you are there. Travel back through time with a fascinating fossil tour on Shanklin Beach and try to identify any fossils found while on the Dinosaur Isle, great for kids of all ages.

The Brading Roman Villa Museum offers an insight into the life of a Roman nobleman, and for those looking for something more adventurous, there are many places that offer adventure sports, water sports and riding along the coast. Whatever you are looking for on holiday, you will find it on the East Coast.
