Pet-friendly self-catering holidays in Shanklin

The dramatic sandstone cliffs and beautiful, golden beaches make Shanklin one of the Isle of Wight’s most sought-after holiday destinations. Boasting a historic 19th-century esplanade full of fun and games for the whole family as well as rows of charming beach huts for rent, you won’t be short of entertainment while staying in one of our dog-friendly cottages in Shanklin. Famed for its characterful, traditional pubs adorned with flower baskets and boasting some of England’s finest ales, it is well worth a walk through the village to admire the buildings and sample some of the delicious local produce on offer. By night, you can venture to the iconic Shanklin Theatre to laugh your evening away with a comedy sketch or dance to the beat of some live music.

Take your trusty companion for a hike through Shanklin Chine, a wooded ravine with enchanting waterfalls, woodland and a heritage centre where you can find out more. When you’re not too busy indulging in all the comforts of your dog-friendly accommodation, there are plenty of adventures to be had in and around Shanklin. To get closer to nature, hire a kayak or SUP and explore the surrounding coastal waters to try your hand a spotting some of the area’s incredible wildlife including sea eagles, turtles and dolphins. If you’re more comfortable on dry land, take your four-legged friend for a walk up to Dunnose Point, one of the highest places on the island, where you can enjoy spectacular views out across the English Channel.
