Shanklin Chine, with its lush greenery and tumbling waterfalls, is just 500 metres away, with the pretty Old Village and postcard-worthy thatched cottages a similar distance. Inside, this rustic house has a welcoming feel, with characterful touches like wooden beams and an exposed stone wall in the living area. This is an ideal spot to flop onto the sofa and enjoy something on the Smart TV after a day out, or enjoy a relaxed meal together. The adjoining farmhouse-style kitchen is well equipped for easy cooking and leads straight out to the enclosed courtyard garden, which sets the scene perfectly for sunny breakfasts or evening drinks. When it’s time to turn in for the night, head upstairs to two comfy double bedrooms and a family bathroom complete with a bath and shower. There’s space to park one car on the private driveway, plus on-street options if needed.

There’s so much to do nearby – perhaps you’ll get tickets for some live music, comedy or a play at Shanklin Theatre (100 metres). Walkers will be keen to join the stunning coast path (0.5 miles) for scenic walks towards Sandown (3 miles) or Ventnor (4 miles) – there are miles of beautiful pathways leading from the town into the surrounding countryside. For animal lovers, make a beeline for the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary (2.5 miles).

We really enjoyed our stay in the bijou cottage in a very central location with its own parking which was a godsend. Comfortable beds & great shower. Ideal for a week's holiday & we'd definitely go back. A real gem of a place.
