This pretty stone cottage is situated on a 12-acre farm with horses, surrounded by beautiful open countryside. Scenic walks can be enjoyed directly from the cottage and footpaths can be followed to join the Bembridge Trail over the downs. The rural village of Newchurch which has a great public house for meals, is only a 10 to 15 minute walk away. The sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are within a ten-minute drive.

Squire Thatchers Barn which adjoins Paper Barn, has been carefully converted from an 18th Century Grade II Listed stone barn. It overlooks an open grassy courtyard which is often adorned by ducks. Stables are on two sides of the courtyard, and an 18th Century threshing barn and farmhouse are on the other side. The cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms with two bath/shower rooms. It has a spacious open-plan sitting room with comfortable sofas, television/Freeview/DVD/ video recorder and a hi-fi system. There is a pleasant dining area by a window with stunning views across fields towards the downs. The fitted kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. A washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer are also provided.

The cottage has three pretty bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a twin and a double room; a bathroom with a bath and a separate shower, WC and sink. A spiral staircase leads up to an additional double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with sink and WC. The cottage is warmed by storage heaters and additional electric heaters can be provided. Heating and electricity are free of charge. A travel cot and high chair can be made available. The cottage also has a wireless broadband internet (WiFi) connection available.

At the rear of the cottage there is a fenced garden with mesmerising open views across fields to Arreton and Mersley Downs. There is an attractive terrace with garden furniture, a lawned area and a barbecue area. A barbecue can be made available free of charge, on request. Two cars can be parked at the rear of the cottage. Access to the cottage is along a bridleway and private lane which is bumpy in places. Nearby places to visit include Amazon Adventure, The Garlic Farm, The Roman Villa, Carisbrooke Castle and Havenstreet Steam Railway. A rural bus service is within a quarter of a mile.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Lovely cottage with plenty of space and nice garden and a beautiful view overlooking fields. Dog walking is easy and spotlessly clean throughout the cottage.

Nowhere is far on the IOW, so our main requirement was comfort. The barn is spacious, (master bedroom and bathroom are particularly lovely). The host was excellent. Having visited in October we couldn't make the most of the outdoor area, but in the warmer months it must be wonderful.
