Located within a large country house, this charming apartment enjoys a delightful terrace and superb rural and sea views. It’s also excellently situated for exploring the island.

Tennyson Wing is beautifully situated in a rural location above Alum Bay and enjoys panoramic views of nearby downs and across fields to the sea. It is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, within a two minute walk of Tennyson Down, leading directly to the coastal path. Breath-taking walks then extend eastward past Tennyson's monument to Freshwater Bay, Brook, Brighstone and Niton, or westwards to The Needles and Alum Bay. The beach at Alum Bay is within a 25-minute walk and is renowned for its coloured sands along with scenic boat trips to The Needles. The golden coves of Totland and Colwell Bay are within a five-minute drive and here, swimming, paddling and fishing can be enjoyed. The quaint town of Freshwater is also nearby and this has a variety of small shops, public houses, a sports centre with swimming pool and a popular golf course. The attractive port and sailing centre of Yarmouth is within a ten minute drive. Here, there are some excellent restaurants, boutique style shops and boat trips along the river or to the mainland.

Tennyson Wing is the first floor, south west wing of Alum Bay House - a grand detached property which has been carefully converted to provide six dwellings. Tennyson Wing has a spacious terrace which enjoys superb rural and sea views. The property has been furnished and equipped to a high standard by an interior designer to provide elegant accommodation for four people in two bedrooms.

There is a charming open plan living room furnished with a comfortable sofa and chairs, wall mounted flat screen television with DVD player and Freeview, and French doors opening onto the terrace. Guests can enjoy a relaxing dining area with sea views, as well as two delightful bedrooms; one twin room with sea views and a double bedroom with a king size bed and an en-suite shower room with walk in shower, basin and W.C. There is also a separate bathroom with a bath, hand shower, basin and W.C. Meals can be cooked and prepared in the well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer-dryer.

Heating and electricity are without extra charge. The property is heated with storage heaters with convectors. A travel cot and high chair can be provided. WiFi internet access is available. Tennyson Wing has a sunny terrace with attractive ironwork garden furniture and parasol. Visitors can also access a beautiful area of garden to the rear of Alum Bay House where there is shared use of a large lawn where one can relax and children can play games. There are wonderful views across surrounding fields to the downs and to the western reaches of the Solent, with the Hampshire coastline in the distance. Parking is available for two cars to the side of the property. There is a regular bus service within a five-minute walk.

Tennyson Wing itself is a lovely property but the outside of the property needs some TLC. The furnishings are really quite lovely and the views are fantastic. The many books, DVD's and CD's were really appreciated. Sadly though, not all the patio furniture is as shown on the web-page ... it is now a pub style table and fixed bench seats.

Large, very comfortable apartment, warm and well equipped. Location excellent, especially for walkers......shame about the snow, but this is hardly the fault of the property.....and it was January after all. Ferry fares are very expensive. Despite what Google says bus passes are valid on IoW.

We had a fantastic week at Tennyson Wing. The apartment had everything we could need and more! Very clean and very comfortable. And what a view from the balcony! Only piece of advice - take slippers the rattan carpet isn't great for bare feet!

We have visited Tennyson Wing before and love the location. The flat is very comfortable and well equipped. Unfortunately this year the weather was not as warn as we had hoped for. Having previously visited The Garlic Farm we were not disappointed when we returned this year.
