This lovingly renovated former Victorian stable block boasts stylish and bright open-plan accommodation for memorable family holidays by the sea.

Milton Stables is situated on the south west of the Isle of Wight within a five-minute walk of Freshwater Bay and Tennyson Down. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area with easy access to the coastal path - a particularly beautiful route westwards to the Needles, or eastwards to St Catherine's lighthouse on the southern tip of the Isle of Wight. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a variety of small coves where swimming, surfing, paddling and boating can be enjoyed, as well as a two-mile long sandy beach at nearby Compton Bay. There are general stores, tea shops and restaurants within a five-minute walk of the cottage. A two-minute drive also takes you to the town of Freshwater with supermarkets and a variety of shops, inns and restaurants, plus a sports centre with gym and swimming pool.

The skilfully renovated building provides spacious accommodation with a light and airy feel. French doors open from the courtyard into a central hallway, with stairs leading up to a galleried landing and you can also find double room containing a king-size bed with TV and en-suite bathroom with bath, basin and WC, plus a cosy sitting room with attic style sloping ceilings, two sofas and a Smart TV and a DVD player. The upstairs rooms have sloped ceilings.

On the ground floor there is a spacious open-plan living room with a comfortable sofa and a central dining area beside French doors opening into the courtyard. The interconnected fitted kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, sink, dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator and freezer. There is also a twin bedroom with flat screen television with Freeview, and wet room with shower, basin and WC on the ground floor. A travel cot and high chair are available. The cottage has a tiled courtyard style garden at the front of the property which is gated and fenced. Garden furniture is provided. There is unallocated onstreet parking, an additional off road space available inside the gated courtyard to park one small car. A links golf course with spectacular views is within a ten-minute walk.

Great location, nice touch with milk and scones, clean, everything we needed, plenty of towels and cleaning supplies. The garden however was a disaster, couches upstairs were terrible, rugs were very dated and worn. Expected a Christmas tree as it said decorated for Christmas. Great little cottage in a great location. The driveway is a bit tricky and we couldn't fit our car on it due to the angle of the entrance, a small car would be fine, but we knew this from the description before we booked. Good quiet location which felt safe. Parked on road as difficult to back up slope at an angle into patio area. Plenty of road so not a problem. We had a fantastic holiday, the accommodation was perfect, even in the extreme heat we were comfortable. It's well equipped and clean. It's in a lovely location, short walk to the beach. Lovely walks nearby. We found we had to travel a bit further out to eat out and have a cream tea etc, but that didn't matter, as it was a beautiful journey along tRead morehe coastal road. We would definitely return. We have a VW touran and although it says ideal for small cars, we were able to park and close the gate. Hide

Situated in a lovely part of the Island. Milton Stables was spotlessly clean. A few little personal touches would have been welcomed - like a little note and a few eggs or some chocolates or something. It is fairly basic downstairs especially the twin bedroom but bed was comfortable! Lovely white bed linen is always welcome.

We we had a wonderful stay here! It was very well located so close to the beach, shops & cafes. The courtyard garden is not very private, & is quite overlooked.Read more There isn't much parking in the road, and lots of building works at the mo makes it worse so bear in mind.
