This lovingly renovated former Victorian stable block boasts stylish and bright open-plan accommodation for memorable family holidays by the sea.

Milton Stables is situated on the south west of the Isle of Wight within a five-minute walk of Freshwater Bay and Tennyson Down. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area with easy access to the coastal path - a particularly beautiful route westwards to the Needles, or eastwards to St Catherine's lighthouse on the southern tip of the Isle of Wight. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a variety of small coves where swimming, surfing, paddling and boating can be enjoyed, as well as a two-mile long sandy beach at nearby Compton Bay. There are general stores, tea shops and restaurants within a five-minute walk of the cottage. A two-minute drive also takes you to the town of Freshwater with supermarkets and a variety of shops, inns and restaurants, plus a sports centre with gym and swimming pool.

This is a detached property situated in a quiet crescent. As its name suggests, it has been converted and extended from a Victorian stable block. The skilfully renovated building provides spacious accommodation with a light and airy feel. French doors open from the courtyard into a central hallway, with stairs leading up to a galleried landing and you can also find double room containing a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, basin and WC, plus a cosy sitting room with attic style sloping ceilings, two sofas and a wall mounted TV with Freeview and a DVD player.

On the ground floor there is a spacious open-plan living room with a comfortable sofa and a central dining area beside French doors opening into the courtyard. The interconnected fitted kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, sink, dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator and freezer. There is also a twin bedroom with flat screen television with Freeview, and wet room with shower, basin and WC on the ground floor. A travel cot and high chair are available. Central heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. The cottage has a tiled courtyard style garden at the front of the property which is gated and fenced. Garden furniture is provided. There is unallocated onstreet parking, an additional off road space available inside the gated courtyard to park one small car. A golf course within a ten-minute walk.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Beautiful cottage with plenty of space and good kitchen facilities for a Christmas holiday. Local cafes, shops, pub and the spectacular Freshwater Bay all within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely location and very quiet. If going late in the year take a torch, there are no street lights. Because of ferry and road problems we arrived in the dark, nightmare!

The cottage is lovely, in a nice quiet part of Freshwater. Just a short walk to the small but lovely beach down the road. A little overpriced compared to similar sized and similar located cottages but we had a lovely time here.

Excellent location in the quieter corner of IOW. Colwell Bay and Totland have good nearby beaches. Great walking on the Downs. Plenty of space and a lovely courtyard to sit out. Enjoyed the upstairs sitting room but can be a bit too warm for sleeping.
