Burr Bank stands close to the centre of the traditional Purbeck village of Langton Matravers. There are wonderful open views over the fields and woodland to the beautiful downs across the valley. The house is within a few minutes walk of the handsome church, village shop, small museum and a public house. The village is also home to Putlake Adventure Farm whose alpacas can often be seen from the kitchen window. This is superb walking country with hills, meadows, woods and heath; the sea at Dancing Ledge and the Jurassic coast path are just over a mile away across National Trust land. A fabulous network of footpaths and bridleways invites exploration of countryside and coast. There are also excellent routes for cyclists. The small seaside resort of Swanage, a five minutes drive away is ideal for swimming and paddling. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of entertainment including boat trips, fishing, diving and steam railway. There is a range of restaurants and cafes including a specialist chocolate cafe. Nearby places to visit include Corfe Castle, Monkey World, Kimmeridge Bay, Studland beach and the beautiful RSPB site at Arne.
Burr Bank has been skilfully extended to create a light and airy house with lovely views of the Purbeck Hills from most rooms. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard and provides spacious accommodation in four bedrooms, with three bath/shower rooms. On the ground floor, the fitted kitchen has an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The separate open plan living room has a large dining area, and a sitting room with comfortable sofas and chairs, a Smart TV, Blueray player and a real flame gas fire. More sofas are available in the garden room with its magnificent open views and beautiful sills made of the local Purbeck marble; French doors give easy access to the garden. Stairs lead up to a galleried landing with splendid views of Nine Barrow Down. Both the spacious double (king-size bed) and the small single room enjoy views of the hills and countryside. The bathroom has a bath, basin, WC and floor to ceiling mirror. Central heating, electricity and Wi-Fi internet are provided without extra charge. A travel cot and high chair can be made available. Burr Bank has a secluded fenced garden at the rear of the property with fine views. There is a terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine, and a small number of steps lead to a sunken garden with pretty flowerbeds and shrubs. A wicket gate from the front garden takes you into the little meadow and guests are welcome to explore and take a seat on the driftwood bench. The insulating green roof over the garden room is planted with stonecrop, whilst the south facing roof harvests sunlight with solar panels. Two cars can be parked in the drive and bikes can be stored in the lockable shed. The bus stop is just around the corner in the High Street giving access to Swanage, Corfe Castle, Wareham and Poole.
