Rosemary Cottage is situated on a farm in one of the loveliest parts of the Isle of Wight, lying at the foot of Appuldurcombe Down and above the picturesque village of Godshill in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A pleasant ten-minute stroll through the beech copse and across the fields leads to the centre of Godshill. This village is renowned for its church and pretty thatched cottages. It has a variety of teashops and restaurants, as well as pleasant public houses. There is also immediate access from the farm courtyard to footpaths and bridleways leading to Appuldurcombe, and along the Stenbury Trail to the coast at Ventnor. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are under a twenty-minute drive away.

Above the arable fields of the farm lie sweeping open downlands, where sheep graze and over which guests are welcome to walk along the marked trails. From the top of these downs there are panoramic views across the Isle of Wight towards the Hampshire and Dorset coastline. Buzzards and skylarks are often seen from these downs. In nearby woodland Red Squirrels and badgers can be glimpsed, as well as a variety of wild flowers. In the spring, the bluebells carpet the woods in a blue haze. In the farm courtyard, owls and woodpeckers are frequent visitors.

Rosemary Cottage is one of three adjoining cottages that are south facing and overlook the attractive farm courtyard, with its ancient Grade II listed barns and traditional farmhouse, dating back to the 17th century. From the rear of the cottage there are mesmerising views stretching across the open fields to the church tower of Godshill, with St. Georges Downs beyond. The cottage has been carefully converted from an old barn and has been sympathetically renovated to compliment its history. It is furnished in a traditional style and is centrally heated. There is a spacious sitting room for relaxing with a flat screen television, plus a pleasant dining area.

There are two bedrooms; one double and one twin room with feature floor to ceiling beams between the beds and a sloped ceiling on one side; a bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin, W.C and a sloped ceiling. Downstairs there is a cloakroom with a second WC and hand basin. The cottage has a well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Guests have shared use with the other cottages of a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. A travel cot and high chair can be provided. There is a sunny, fenced patio at the front of the cottage overlooking the fountain. Garden furniture is also provided. Within a minutes walk of the cottage is an open lawned area suitable for ball games. Here, visitors can relax with their children or enjoy a barbecue. Beautiful carpets of bluebells can be a joy to see in nearby woodland in late April and early May. Car parking spaces are available close to the cottage. A regular bus service and shop are within a ten-minute walk.

Rosemary Cottage is in a lovely location at the top of a hill. Easy access to everywhere. Lovely views all around and a quiet location on a converted farm of other cottages. Lots of parking too. The cottage is very spacious for 4 people, we were there with our 11 and 14 year old so the fire/smart TV was great. Master bed was very comfy, lots of towRead moreels and a very well equipped kitchen. The weather was so lovely on one day we sat outside in the front garden which is a sun trap. Furniture is a bit dated but apart from that a really lovely cottage. Hide

Fine other than no hot water in bathroom sink tap, which was to be fair annoying. Other than that, found it a little odd there was no salt pepper and cooking oil but they did have tea 30ml of milk and instant coffee. Check in and check out times are a fair bit less generous than most other holiday homes. But I suppose the location makes up for it aRead morend a very good central heating system - loved that. Hide

What a beautiful place to stay - quiet, non-touristy, with plenty of walks in the area. We stayed four days, watched the sun rise from the back of the cottage and set from the front of the farm, cooked our food in the well equipped kitchen, walked the Worsley trail...it was perfect. The location is fantastic because you get a real feel of being somRead moreewhere different. All you'll hear is the baaing of sheep and the clop clop of horses as they pass. Highly recommended! Easy check in and out! Hide

Comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage in a very peaceful location. Furniture could do with updating, but overall very good and would stay here again.

Beautiful rustic cottage in a wonderfully quiet countryside location! We loved our stay here! Would note that there were quite a lot of cobwebs / spiders.
