Magnolia Cottage is situated on a farm in one of the loveliest parts of the Isle of Wight, lying at the foot of Appuldurcombe Down and above the picturesque village of Godshill in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A pleasant ten-minute stroll through the beech copse and across the fields leads to the centre of Godshill. This village is renowned for its church and pretty thatched cottages. It has a variety of tea shops and restaurants, as well as pleasant public houses. There is also immediate access from the farm courtyard to footpaths and bridleways, leading to Appuldurcombe and along the Stenbury Trail to the coast at Ventnor. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are under a twenty-minute drive away.

Above the arable fields of the farm lie sweeping open downlands, where sheep graze and over which guests are welcome to walk along the marked trails. From the top of these downs there are panoramic views across the Isle of Wight towards the Hampshire and Dorset coastline. Buzzards and skylarks are often seen from these downs. In nearby woodland Red Squirrels and badgers can be glimpsed, as well as a variety of wild flowers. In the spring, the bluebells carpet the woods in a blue haze. In the farm courtyard, owls and woodpeckers are frequent visitors.

Magnolia Cottage is one of three adjoining cottages that are south facing and overlook the attractive farm courtyard with its ancient Grade II listed barns and traditional farmhouse which dates back to the 17th century. From the rear of the cottage there are spectacular views stretching across the open fields to the church tower of Godshill, with St. Georges Downs beyond. The cottage has been carefully converted from an old barn and is a real home from home. It is furnished in a traditional style and is centrally heated. There is a spacious sitting room for relaxing with a flat screen Smart TV, plus a pleasant dining area next to a window which looks onto the fields.

There are two bedrooms; one double with TV and fire stick, and one twin room with floor to ceiling beams between the beds and a sloped ceiling on one side; a bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, and also a downstairs cloakroom with a second WC. and hand basin. The cottage has a well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Guests have shared use with the other cottages of a laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. A travel cot and high chair are available. Heating and domestic electricity at no extra charge, and WiFi internet is available.

There is a sunny, fenced patio at the front of the cottage overlooking the fountain. Garden furniture is also provided. Within a minutes walk of the cottage is an open lawned area suitable for ball games. Here, visitors can relax with their children or enjoy a barbecue. Beautiful carpets of bluebells can be a joy to see in nearby woodland in late April and early May. Car parking spaces are available close to the cottage. A regular bus service and shop are within a ten-minute walk.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. We hit our heads on the sloping roof upstairs and found the double bed too small but the little front garden was a suntrap with spectacular views. Many walks on the doorstep. Godshill village a 10 min walk through woods. Lovely lounge with big tv in the cottage. Well equiped kitchen downstairs loo too

Lovely area with great walks in beautiful woodland. Not much headroom in the bathroom because of sloping roof. Might be an issue if you are quite tall.

Lovely location to see much of the island easily and very peaceful. Good walks straight from the doorstep and two friendly pubs in Godshill. The Cheverton Farm Shop just outside the village has a good range of quality food. (If, as we do, you like to cook, you may want to bring your own knives.) The cottage was very comfortable for two of us and weRead more appreciated the outdoor furniture as the small garden catches lots of Sun. Hide

Very comfortable dog friendly cottage in a beautiful location. Ideal starting point for a network of footpaths in all directions.
