Rosemary Cottage is situated on a farm in one of the loveliest parts of the Isle of Wight, lying at the foot of Appuldurcombe Down and above the picturesque village of Godshill in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A pleasant ten-minute stroll through the beech copse and across the fields leads to the centre of Godshill. This village is renowned for its church and pretty thatched cottages. It has a variety of teashops and restaurants, as well as pleasant public houses. There is also immediate access from the farm courtyard to footpaths and bridleways leading to Appuldurcombe, and along the Stenbury Trail to the coast at Ventnor. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are under a twenty-minute drive away.
Above the arable fields of the farm lie sweeping open downlands, where sheep graze and over which guests are welcome to walk along the marked trails. From the top of these downs there are panoramic views across the Isle of Wight towards the Hampshire and Dorset coastline. Buzzards and skylarks are often seen from these downs. In nearby woodland Red Squirrels and badgers can be glimpsed, as well as a variety of wild flowers. In the spring, the bluebells carpet the woods in a blue haze. In the farm courtyard, owls and woodpeckers are frequent visitors.
Rosemary Cottage is one of three adjoining cottages that are south facing and overlook the attractive farm courtyard, with its ancient Grade II listed barns and traditional farmhouse, dating back to the 17th century.
