Self-catering holiday accommodation in Shorwell
Shorwell is a small inland village towards the south coast of the Isle of Wight. Characterised by country cottages and old farm houses, this was one of Queen Victoria's favourite parts of the island. Shorwell is home to a friendly pub called The Crown Inn which has a pond filled with brown trout. Surrounded by hills you can take a lovely walk up to the chalk downs and follow the trails to Chale Bay and Compton Bay.
Shorwell is nicely located for travelling to Newport, the island's shopping hub, or the road also links to Shanklin and Sandown on the east coast. You can catch a bus across to Freshwater, Newport or Totland for a wider choice of beaches.
Conveniently situated close to a coastal path, there are lovely walks to the south to Bonchurch, Ventnor and St. Lawrence and all offer breath-taking views along the way. Ventnor is home to some of the Isle of Wight's finest eateries and the interesting Botanical Gardens. Seek out Steephill Cove for a great day out at the beach too. For family fun go to the theme park, Blackgang Chine, which is a short drive from Shorwell.
