Traditional stone cottage offering comfortable accommodation for up to six guests, enjoying a quiet location in a rural hamlet just two miles outside the picturesque village of Godshill.

This lovely stone cottage is beautifully situated in the peaceful hamlet of Roud, within a five minute drive of the picturesque village of Godshill and only a ten minute drive from the coast. The beach resorts of Shanklin and Ventnor are a 15 minute drive away. The hamlet of Roud is surrounded by rolling South Isle of Wight countryside and it is a wonderful walking area with footpaths leading to nearby downs, and a particularly scenic walk which follows the course of the River Yar southwards to Niton and eastwards to the coast at Bembridge.

One Elm Cottage is one of a pair of cottages - the adjoining cottage Two Elm Cottage sleeps an additional six guests and is also available to be booked for holidays. One Elm Cottage has been furnished and equipped with care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for five to six guests in three bedrooms. It is double glazed and heated with storage heaters and a wood burning stove. Several original features have been retained in the cottage including the flagstone/pine floors and statement fireplaces. ( A tumble dryer is also provided in a separate area).

Stairs lead up to a bathroom with a bath, W.C. and basin, plus three charming bedrooms; one with a king size bed, a bunk bedroom for children and a single room which can be converted into a twin room by use of the full size single trundle bed if required. A stair gate, travel cot and high chair can be provided. Wifi connection is available. Electric heating and lighting are without extra charge. The cottage has a gorgeous garden with a large lawn at the rear of the cottage where games can be played. Further areas of garden are at the side and front of the cottage. Shared driveway with adjoining cottage which provides driveway parking for one car and an entrance through this garden provides easy access for when you arrive at the cottage and depart at the end of the holiday. At other times visitors have a private entrance from the lane which leads up ten steps to the garden.

There are general stores and three public houses which are great for food within five minutes drive, and the larger shops and supermarkets of Newport are within a 15 minute drive. Nearby places of interest to visit include Carisbrooke Castle, Ventnor Botanical Garden, Amazon Adventure, Blackgang Chine and only a little further afield is Osborne House, the island home of Queen Victoria.

Had a lovely week stay at this beautiful cottage. Everything we could ever need and we all loved it. Just need to note that there are steps down to the lane and a bit of a walk to the car space! Absolutely fine if you're able bodied but if not you may need to factor that in. Would definitely recommend

We really enjoyed our stay stay at the cottage. The garden was a particular highlight, with lots of areas for a curious 4 year old to explore. Located in a good central location, nowhere on the island was too far away and there were some really good pubs within a 5 minute drive. We would definitely recommend.

Pros: Lovely cottage and very comfortably furnished with all that you require for a stay. Including more than enough kitchen utensils etc., and the dishwasher was an added bonus. Lovely quiet gardens and very secure for our small dog. Cons: There is an area at the side of the cottage (opp front door) that does not look safe for children and is permRead moreanently muddy; There was a continuous smell of effluence which did not smell like farming smells and it permeated the whole cottage. Beautiful spacious cottage, very well kept and with useful extras like tea bags for a cuppa when you arrive. Island guides available to plan your stay. Large garden -great place for kids and dogs. The only negative is that its a drive to go anywhere and the lanes have no paths, but that does make it a lovely quiet place to relax.
