  • The ideal base for day trips to Poole, Weymouth and Dorchester

Property code: OC-WY129

An inviting second-floor apartment with sweeping views over Swanage’s pretty rooftops, this two-bed home makes a wonderful base for exploring the Dorset coastal town. You’ll be just 0.5 miles from a beautiful sandy beach where you can picnic, swim and try out water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding. The seafront is filled with attractions like arcades and cafes, plus Swanage’s bustling Victorian pier.

On arrival, you’ll head up a short flight of stairs to reach this characterful dwelling with a traditionally styled lounge/diner. Cosy rattan furniture, artwork and a coal-effect electric fire make you feel right at home, and the cheerful yellow walls are uplifting. Watch a film on the TV/DVD player and soak in the homely atmosphere. The farmhouse-style kitchen (also lovely and yellow) has everything you need for meal prep and boasts charming views from the window. You’ll have two bedrooms – a snug double and a twin – plus a tiled family bathroom finishing off the apartment. While the property doesn’t have its own outdoor space, the beach and Townsend Nature Reserve are both within half a mile so it’s easy to get plenty of fresh air. Private parking is available for one car.

Locally, join the South West Coast Path towards Durlston Castle (1 mile) or the Anvil Point Lighthouse (1.5 miles) – you may even see some resident dolphins or grey seals. History buffs and railway enthusiasts won’t want to miss a ride on the Swanage Steam Railway, which you can board at the local station (500 metres). Further afield, destinations like Poole (19 miles), Dorchester (25.5 miles), and Weymouth (26.5 miles) are within an hour’s drive.

Great accommodation in lovely location. The parking space is a great extra. The fuse board had tripped when we arrived but we soon restored the power with the help of the Holiday Cottages t local team.

The appartment was lovely! Feeled like in grandma's home. We loved to stay there and surely will again, if we're around.

We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment in the old part of town with all the character of the buildings and a great view across the rooftops to Purbeck Hills. A great location, being quieter and town and beach a short walk away.

Very convenient for the town with beach, shops, pubs and restaurants easily accessible. Its great to have off road parking although it is a very tight space especially with a large vehicle in the next bay. It feels a little dated but very comfortable and everything worked well it looks as though the shower has been recently replaced and is now vRead moreery good. Hide

Needs work doing to it. Leaking ceilings with brown water water marks over bedroom ceilings. Shower was trickle of water despite me descaling it. Property in need of remedial works.

Although the flat is a little dated we loved our stay here. The parking space is very convenient for the close location to the town and the shop around the corner very handy! The beds were very comfortable and we slept really well. Swanage is such a brilliant place and there is lots you can walk to and explore from the great location of the flat. TRead morehe only thing we really struggled with was the seating in the living room; more like office chairs than sofas and they were uncomfortable. Otherwise the great location made this a good place to stay. Hide

The property was well placed for the town, beach and bus/heritage rail station. Having its own parking spot was very useful as properties with off road parking are hard to find. Both bathroom and kitchen are a bit tired and could do with an upgrade. The kitchen had plenty of crockery, pans etc. Cleanliness was generally ok. Overall, given the priceRead more charged, the property was good value for money. Hide

This was our 2nd stay at 7 Wilson Court. The flat furniture had been updated over the winter and was much improved. The Original Cottages office is next door and they were very helpful and quick to sort out the issue we had where we couldnt open the bathroom window. I have read previous reviews about a neighbour smoking and can say that we smelt noRead morething like that on either stay. The flat is extremely well priced in comparison with other properties in the area and has a parking space and is extremely well placed. Id definitely recommend this property for a stay at Swanage Hide
