With its charming nautical theme and quaint setting, this period cottage offers quirky accommodation ideal for fans of the unusual. You’ll be right in the heart of pretty Cowes, on the island’s northernmost tip, with shops, pubs and restaurants all within 0.5 miles. Beautiful walks and cycle routes lead all over the island from your front door. With room for up to four over two bedrooms – plus two extra bed spaces on top of that – it’s ideal for a family trip or a holiday among friends.

This terraced accommodation has a lovely traditional facade and pretty sash windows throughout. You’ll enter into the cosy lounge which has comfy sofas with plenty of cushions and carefully chosen artwork on the walls. A wooden door leads through to the dining room, again beautifully decorated with coastal-themed artefacts made from materials like driftwood and coral. This is a lovely space for sitting and enjoying leisurely meals together, prepared in the compact but adequate kitchen. Doors from the dining area lead out to an ever-so-sweet courtyard equipped with a BBQ for those mild evenings, plus furniture and shrubs.

You’ll find plenty to do in the immediate area, with a pub 250 metres away and a beach 1.5 miles away at Castle Point (accessible via the Floating Bridge that crosses the River Medina). The gorgeous Hamstead Heritage Coast starts just 2 miles to the west – this impressive landscape of low clay cliffs, salt marshes and mud flats is ideal for exploring on foot or by bike. Ryde (11.5 miles), a Victorian seaside resort, is well worth the trip for its sandy beaches and holiday atmosphere.

We had a really lovely time staying at Caulk Cottage. It was lovely and cosy and very clean with a fully equipped kitchen. It had everything we needed and very central location so you could walk easily into town or the beach. The owner was super helpful and friendly. Would definitely come back.

A well-located cosy home, ideal for wandering in to Cowes and across to east Cowes on the chain ferry. Also, a great location for travelling across the Isle of Wight - we were here for the Armed Forces Day and the Red Arrows display. The local pub does mean noisy evenings, particularly at the weekend. There is an excellent local chippy and supermarRead moreket and an amazing choice of independent shops. Hide
