It is in a lovely walking and cycling area with footpaths and tracks extending in a variety of directions, including the coast at Wootton Creek, the woods of Briddlesford Copse and Arreton Downs. The cottage is in an excellent location for exploring the island with many places to visit within an easy ten-minute drive. These include the wonderful island home of Queen Victoria - Osborne House, Quarr Abbey, Havenstreet Steam Railway, the Butterfly World, a Lavender Farm, and Robin Hill Country Park. The small floating bridge at Cowes offers easy access to the shops of West Cowes and to the countryside and picturesque coves on the west side of the island. The larger east coast sandy beaches of Ryde, Appley and St Helens are also nearby.

One Dores Hill Cottage is one of a pair of cottages which has been in the same family for two generations. It has recently been renovated with great care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for two people. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard to provide a stylish and relaxing place to stay. On the ground floor there is a spacious open-plan living room with a Smart TV/Freeview/DVD - a great place to relax in front of the wood burning stove set into an inglenook fireplace. There is a dining area and a well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and small freezer. (A washing and drying service is available).

Upstairs there is a double bedroom with a king-size bed, wardrobe plus wonderful open views across fields to the sea; a bathroom with bath, overhead shower, WC and basin. Central heating, electricity and WiFi Internet are without extra charge.

The cottage has a fenced and gated garden with garden furniture so that visitors can relax in the sunshine. There is also a pretty well in the garden which in years past provided water for the cottages. A car can be parked in a parking area near the cottage. Perhaps an extra hour would be appreciated on vacating the property. Leaving at 10am meant that we had to get up extra early to strip beds bag up towels and bedding, empty bins and replace bin bags. We always leave holiday places as we find them. This spoilt our last day. Doing all this and then facing a 6 hour trip home was tiring as we both have Read moremobility issues. Hide

Gorgeous cottage but had a damp smell. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Please note the pub is a drive away not accessible by foot down the busy main road which has no footpath or lights. It was a fabulous cottage with everything required, plus additional personal touches which elevated the welcome. Would 100 % recommend. It was tucked away down a track in a gorgeous setting, so only slight downside is you had to drive, but only a few mins drive to access supermarket etc

The cottage was well ideally situated for a relaxing break in peaceful countryside whilst not being too far away from the coast and local attractions. The cottage was well equipped and very clean with the added bonus of a superb welcome pack. The garden was ideal for an afternoon cuppa.

The cottage was extremely clean and beautifully decorated in an appropriately simple style. We received a lovely welcoming message with a homemade cake and wine. All necessary facilities were available and clearly explained in the very professional welcome pack. A perfect holiday home for a peaceful stay.
