Get the whole gang together at this impressive 18th-century holiday home in a complex of properties just outside Wroxall. Sleeping 10 people across five bedrooms, it’s ideal for groups who are searching for an elegant period home where they can celebrate a special occasion together. Wake up and set off to explore the baroque ruins of Appuldurcombe House, before heading off for Stenbury Downs to hike the trails. In the evening, come home to host a stylish BBQ in your cottage’s garden.
Park in your private spot (there’s room for three cars) and step inside this former deer lodge, which dates back to 1780. Check out the lounge, which is a characterful space with flagstone floors, beamed ceilings and a cosy wood burner. Head to the kitchen/diner to whip up some dinner to share in the stylish dining room. Alternately, head out into the garden, fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco. Afterwards, let the kids play on the lawn (please supervise as there’s a pond), or take them to the playroom to check out the board games. Enjoy a little quiet time in the snug, or relax wood burner in the lounge. You’ll find five bedrooms upstairs - four super-king rooms with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins (two with en-suite shower rooms, and one with an en-suite bathroom), and a cheerful bunk room that’s perfect for the kids. Please note that some bedrooms have reduced ceiling height as they are set into the eaves. The snug downstairs also has a sofa bed. A smart family bathroom with a bath and shower completes the layout. Spend a happy few hours discovering the Victorian seaside charm of Ventnor (2 miles), which is known for its sunny microclimate. Alternatively, head into Shanklin (4 miles) to relax on the beach and stroll along the pier.
