For a memorable group holiday with a rustic and traditional feel, stay at this delightful 1600s retreat on the picturesque Isle of Purbeck. It’s perched on the edge of an RSPB nature reserve and surrounded by plenty of wildlife and pretty spots to explore. You’ll have popular historical spots like Corfe Castle (7 miles) within easy reach, as well as the beach at Studland Bay just 10.5 miles away. With space for eight and one furry friend, it’s perfect for a family holiday exploring Dorset’s lush countryside and coastal scenery.

This home is brimming with character. You’ll have two lounges for unwinding – one with a crackling wood burner for the chilly months, the other equipped with a TV and DVD player for film nights. The country-style kitchen has striking blue units plus a walk-in pantry for storing all that fresh Dorset produce. Gather around the breakfast table here or at grand dining table next door. Upstairs, four charming bedrooms await – a super-king, a king and two twins, along with a family bathroom and two shower rooms. Outside, the sprawling garden is a blend of mature trees and sweeping views. Little ones can let off steam on the play equipment while adults relax on the raised patio, perhaps with a BBQ feast on the go. Private parking for five cars is also available.

You’ll be 4.5 miles from the historic town of Wareham, where the rivers Frome and Piddle meet. Browse a bustling weekly market (Saturdays) then tuck into a meal by the quay. For a watery treat, hire a boat or paddle steamer cruise. Fancy a beach day? Head to Studland Bay for sandy shores and National Trust walks through heathland or take a trip to the iconic Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, coastal landmarks around 15 miles away.

We had a couple of idyllic days, celebrating our fathers 90th birthday. The property was extremely well equipped. We wanted for nothing. The location is very secluded and quiet, perfect for exploring the area - RSPB nature reserve, Corfe Castle, Studland Bay.
