Located in the small village of Harmans Cross, this modern and stylish bungalow adjoins the owner’s house and offers family-friendly accommodation ideal for an extended family or group stays. The village has a small shop for essentials and a playground, and is also a stop on the famous Swanage to Corfe Castle steam railway line. Hop on the train in the summer months to visit the seaside town of Swanage 4 miles away, or the ruins and village of Corfe Castle 2 miles away. Or you can take one of the many walking routes from the village itself into the Purbeck Hills or pick up the longer trails of the Jurassic Coast.

Well equipped and finished to a high standard, the ground floor is a lovely large, bright space. A shaker-style kitchen has a unique breakfast bar made with wood from Swanage Pier and bi-fold doors lead into the beautiful garden. At the other end sits a large circular dining table with seating for six, and double doors lead to a cosy snug area with leather sofas and a TV. A separate living room sits at the front of the house, so whether you want to gather together or chill out, there’s space for everyone. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with a modern en-suite shower room along with the family bathroom with separate bath and shower. Stairs lead up to the first floor where there are a further two bedrooms, a double and a twin, both with countryside views that surround the property.

Outside, a pretty landscaped garden is set out on different levels. A decked outdoor dining area sits directly outside the kitchen, with steps that then lead onto a patio and lawned area, beyond which is a wonderful covered outdoor bar and seating area. It’s a great spot for celebrations or for simply taking in the views with a glass of something chilled.

The Brakens is a lovely home away from home. The kitchen and entertainment area is fully equipped with all you need and a large double door fridge plus a large gas BBQ outside with a wonderful outdoor seating area. The house was immaculate when we arrived and beautifully decorated with all you need and more. A lovely touch from the owners when wRead moree arrived was a fresh loaf of bread and lemon cake from the bakery and fresh milk and butter in the fridge. Hide

The Brackens has a real wow factor, from the entrance hall with its quirky oar handrail to the stunning dining kitchen which is any womens dream, everything has been done to the highest standard. We spent a lovely week at The Brackens in North Instow, Dorset, October 7-14 2023. The property was immaculate, both in cleanliness and decor. Fabulous kitchen/diner. Plenty of parking at the front. The garden is beautiful and well tended with wonderful countryside views. The very helpful owner lives nearby.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. A proper home from home. Very well equipped with lots of unexpected extras. We had the pleasure of bumping in to the owner, who is a lovely, helpful lady. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend The Brackens if you are looking for a peaceful, comfortable break.

A lovely family holiday home, spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped, there was plenty of seating. Had a lovely garden with lovely views and was nice and peaceful after a busy day exploring Dorset. We had an amazing stay and will be booking again. Thank you

A lovely well equipped cottage with good outdoor space too. The towels could do with being bath sheet size but there were plenty of towels to use. We would recommend this cottage. It doesn't have a high chair or travel cot but we had our own but some people like these things to be available, so if you have a small toddler you need to bring yourRead more own. This was a luxurious chalet bungalow, very well equipped and a lot of space. Beautifully designed rooms. Bifold doors from the kitchen opened up to a stunning view over the garden and hills nearby.
