Located in the charming seaside town of Swanage, this homely two-bedroom cottage is perfect for a dog-friendly getaway in the picturesque Dorset National Landscape. Exposed stone walls, dainty chandelier lighting and a garden add character to this Grade II-listed property with sea views. Discover the delights of the Isle of Purbeck – like the nearby historical castles, vast sandy beaches and impressive natural spectacles, including Old Harry Rocks.

Step inside to find yourself in the cosy lounge with warm low-hanging lights, an eye-catching exposed brick fireplace with a wood burner-effect electric fire and tones of blue throughout. Continue into the bright kitchen/diner to find a fitted, wooden L-shaped kitchen unit with an exposed brick feature wall. In the centre of the space is a dinner table with seating for four. There is also a boot room and a family bathroom on the ground floor. Climb the stairs to reach two well-sized bedrooms – a double with sea views and a twin room with 3’ beds. Outside is a gated front garden with a small lawn containing furniture. At the rear of the property is an additional courtyard garden which is shared with the neighbouring property. Parking is on-street, subject to availability.

While staying in Swanage you could take your four-legged friends for a run around The Downs or a dip at Monkey Beach (0.5 miles). Enjoy family meals out at the local seafood eateries and discover the town’s gems like its Victorian pier, expansive Swanage Beachfront and the views from Peveril Point (all within 1 mile). Catch the inland steam train to the 1000-year-old Corfe Castle (6 miles), which is surrounded by nature trails. Spend a morning at Old Harry Rocks (4.5 miles) and continue to Shell Bay (7 miles) where you can catch a ferry to Sandbanks and Brownsea Island.

A lovely little cottage not too far from swanage town centre. Clean and comfortable. The hill to the property from swanage town centre is quite steep as are the stairs in the property so keep that in mind when booking. Other than it's a great little stay.

Overall this cottage is very well located, has everything you need for a lovely holiday. It is definitely not suitable for children or those with mobility issues due to the steep stairs. It is has all of the right facilities required. The other issue is on street parking. There isn't always space right near the property so you will need to park furRead morether away. Always be mindful of the residents though. It is a home from home. Hide

Fantastic location that is easily walkable to town, even with young kids. Cottage is tidy, clean and comfortable. Stairs are quite steep but manageable. Having a small secluded garden that faces views of the bay and hills was great. Nice and light throughout

Good location, comfy and warm. 2 mins from Black Swan pub which did the most amazing meals I've ever had. Need to book in advance though as it's now more eatery than pub. No traffic noise at all, comfy bed, just a nice well laid out Cottage. We'll be back !!

Amazing cottage, we had an amazing holiday there, very comfortable and everything you require is there. Loved the garden at the front, sat out there a lot relaxing. The dog also loved the outside space. We will definitely be back.

My daughter and I cannot fault Sparrow Cottage in any small way! We thought it was excellently equipped and a fab place to stay with views from the bedroom and short walk to the town. Perfect!

We had a great week in Sparrow Cottage, helped by the sunny weather we had all week. We absolutely loved exploring the area - definitely worth a visit. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. The stairs are steep though, and the bathroom is downstairs, which wouldn't suit everyone. It's about a 10 minute walk down to the sea in Swanage, makiRead moreng it a convenient location for getting to the pier, beach etc. Hide
