An attractive stone cottage with a suntrap patio garden, set in the sleepy village of Whitwell on the Southern coast of the Isle of Wight. This romantic bolthole is perfect for couples seeking a restorative break by the sea. Embark on an afternoon stroll along the rugged cliff-backed shores of Ventnor Beach (3.5 miles), before sipping a sparkling sundowner on the patio.

This homely property features a sunny interior with warm mustard tones, cosy soft furnishings, and light-dappled rooms. Slip off sandy shoes in the entranceway before padding into the lounge/kitchen/diner. Step into the airy kitchen and whip up a post-adventure snack board of local cheese and artisan chutneys. Grab a chilled bottle from the fridge then perch at the intimate breakfast bar to enjoy a simple supper for two. On balmy summer days, throw open the patio doors to let the summer breeze spill inside. Flop onto the plump sofas and blether into the early hours or snuggle in with a film on the TV. Upstairs, discover a peaceful double room flooded with natural light. Slip into the soft sheets or curl up in the reading nook with a novel. Completing the home is a secluded courtyard garden. Recline on the loungers with your morning brew or indulge in a sizzling BBQ feast.

Saunter along the rocky waterfront of Steephill Cove (4 miles) then refuel an unbeatably fresh seafood lunch at the quirky beach shack. Keen historians will delight in exploring the imposing fortress of Carisbrooke Castle (8 miles) before swinging by a traditional thatched-roof tea room in Godshill (3 miles).

The accommodation is perfect for 2 people. It is very well equipped & in a very quiet location with a great pub serving fantastic food just a very short walk away. The off road parking was also very useful.

We loved our stay at Berryl Mead View. Clean and tidy throughout. A quiet location and near to countryside or the beach. A pub less than 10 minutes walk. Serving very nice food. This property is on a bus route. The buses do not run very late though.
