Originally part of the Trigon Estate, this bright, spacious and inviting holiday home dates back to the 19th century and has been lovingly updated to provide cosy and comfortable accommodation for a family or small group of friends. With ample space for up to six guests and set on the outskirts of Wareham (3.5 miles), this is a lovely base for exploring the Purbeck Hills, Jurassic Coast and Dorset's wonderful sandy beaches.
The cottage is accessed via an unmade track and gravel driveway, with a step leading into the house. The lounge extends the length of the building and is a wonderful space for relaxation. You can unwind in front of the warming wood burner and catch up with a good book or movie. There's also a cosy snug providing space for children to play. The stylish kitchen/diner is well-equipped and is perfect for preparing and sharing your favourite meals. There are three charmingly decorated first-floor bedrooms: one king-size, a double and a twin room with a cot. The south-facing garden has a large lawn – perfect for ball games – as well as outdoor furniture so you can enjoy a BBQ or drinks. Part of the garden is wild, with the occasional stinging nettle, and the garden is not enclosed. The cottage is set within a plot of half an acre overlooking the forest, with chances to glimpse deer, foxes and badgers.
Situated on the fringes of Wareham Forest, there are numerous walking and cycling routes to discover nearby. The historic walled town of Wareham (4.5 miles) has some excellent pubs and restaurants, and you can hire boats and kayaks to explore the river. Local attractions include the Tank Museum (10 miles), Monkey World (8.5 miles), the picturesque village of Corfe Castle (8 miles) and the Victorian seaside town of Swanage (13.5 miles).
