Originally part of the Trigon Estate this detached brick barn conversion dates back to the 1850's and is located off a quiet country lane. The Saxon town of Wareham is within two miles - here there are shops, public houses, restaurants and a river where rowing, fishing and boat trips can be enjoyed. On the outskirts of Wareham there are two golf courses, and within five minutes drive Arne; an RSPB protected site - a wonderful spot for bird watching and viewing deer beside this idyllic part of Poole Harbour. The picturesque village of Corfe Castle with its ancient castle and picturesque stone cottages is within seven miles, and the sandy beach of Swanage is within ten miles.

This property has, as its name suggests, been converted from the original cart house for the Trigon estate. It is built with an attractive combination of brick and wood with lovely large windows. It has a light and airy feel with tiled and wooden floors downstairs and fitted carpets upstairs. On the ground floor there is a large sitting room with a stone fireplace, wood burning stove, comfortable sofas, television with DVD player and FreeSat; a spacious open plan fitted kitchen equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine; a pleasant dining area with a long oak table beside a floor to ceiling window which comfortably accommodates ten people; a double bedroom with French doors opening into the garden, plus a family bathroom equipped with bath, overhead shower, basin and WC.

A wooden staircase leads up from the living room to three further bedrooms; a double bedroom with a king-size bed, a twin room and a single room, plus a shower room with built in shower, basin and WC. A further first floor double bedroom in situated in a brick built annex within only a few paces across the garden from the main house. Here, there is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room with WC and basin. The annex is heated by efficient electric wall heaters. In the main house the ground floor is heated with thermostatically controllable electric radiators. Upstairs there are wall mounted electric radiators and additional radiators heated by the wood burning stove. A wooden cot, high chair and folding bed can be provided if required. Telephone available. WiFi available at no extra charge, but please note that due to the rural location of the property the internet can be slightly intermittent.

The Cart House has beautiful gardens of almost an acre. It is open plan at the front of the house and there is a secluded garden at the rear, with a small terrace and large areas of lawn which are surrounded by bushes and trees. Garden furniture, a parasol and a barbecue are provided so that visitors can enjoy meals in the sunshine. Three to four cars can be parked in the drive. Bus service and trains to London and Weymouth are available from Wareham.

  • 5 bedrooms - 1 king-size, 1 double, 1 twin, 1 single and 1 double in the annex (Sleeps 9+1)

A homely place but ideal for our party with plenty of room for 7 adults, 3 children and a dog. Location is fantastic with many options for days out within a short drive. Some fabulous walks and cycle routes too.

We enjoyed our holiday at the comfortable but tired property. Cleaning was adequate but not thorough. Despite reassurances in the holiday booklet the water colour (yellow) was very worrying, we used bottled. Lovely atmosphere in front of the wood burner however promised first night logs were not there on arrival.

The house provided us with everything we wanted, and we had a great stay. A bit tired in a few places, and the plumbing really struggles (had issues with not enough hot water / over-hot water / showers running dry). We bought lots of bottled water - as per other reviews the tap water might be safe to drink but looks hugely unappealing! Access road Read morefrom lane is very uneven, has to be driven with extreme care - our SUV grounded at least once. Wifi was often poor, but likely not house's fault. Hide

A lovely property more than adequate for ten adults or a mixture of adults and children. A good size garden for games or relaxing in the sun. Whilst the track to the property was long enough and a bit rough it made for a very quiet and peaceful location but only a few minutes from the center of Wareham

If you are after a quiet break, this is the place for you. The only noise was the pheasants! A lovely touch were the birdfeeders outside the kitchen window that attracted many different birds as well as squirrels.

We had a lovely stay at The Cart House, we all enjoyed the peaceful setting, the rhodedenderons in bloom, the procession of wildlife coming to the bird feeders. The grandchildren had a great time making camps in the garden. A bonus was spotting Ospreys going to and from their nest at Careys garden.

The cottage is really lovely, with enough room for our party of 8, and also has plenty of parking space. Plenty of garden furniture too, though sadly not used much by us due to the bad weather. The parasol over the outside table needs replacing.

Beautiful cottage out in the Purbeck countryside. Driving distance to tourist hotspots, away from town but close enough to pop to the shops! We had plenty of space for a family of 6 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs. The heating system needs a proactive approach as the upstairs and downstairs are on different systems (and a bit noisy), but we went in FRead moreeb and as long as things were turned on/up by 5ish there wasn't a chill. Furniture is functional, the kitchen + bath appliances all in good order. Hide
