Tennyson's View stands on the Military Road and within a two-minute walk of the beach at Freshwater Bay - a tranquil bay where swimming, paddling, fishing and kayaking can be enjoyed. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are spectacular views of Tennyson Down from the balcony which extends along the length of the property. Tennyson's View is immediately adjacent to the coastal path and miles of scenic footpaths, with awe-inspiring coastal views and can be walked directly from the front door. The trails extend westwards across Tennyson Down to the Needles or eastward to St Catherine's Lighthouse on the southern tip of the island. This area of coastline is protected by the National Trust and is one of the most picturesque areas on the Island. An 18-hole links style golf course where visitors are welcome, enjoys stunning views over the Solent and English Channel and is within a five-minute walk. The sandy bays of Totland and Colwell are within a five-minute drive and fossil hunting, surfing and paragliding can be enjoyed nearby. Cycling is also a major activity here with rides over the downs, and links with a network of cycle paths.
Tennyson's View, built in 2000 on the site of a small hotel, is the wing of a larger property divided into self-contained apartments. It has its own front door and balcony gateway and the accommodation is all on one level. The property has been furnished and equipped with care to provide an attractive and comfortable place to stay for two people. It is centrally heated and double glazed. There is a spacious open-plan living room with a comfortable sofa, television with DVD player and double doors opening on to the balcony; an attractive dining area with open views through the double doors: a well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer; a bedroom with a king size bed and fitted wardrobes; a shower room with walk in shower, basin and WC.
A stunning balcony extends along the length of the property, where visitors can unwind and eat meals. Here you can catch glimpses of the sea and downs whilst listening to the sounds of the sea which is so close by. Garden furniture is provided for dining out on the balcony. There is a private parking space for one car at the side of the property - access is without steps. A public house, cafe and tea shop are within five minutes walk; a general store and restaurant are within ten minutes walk. The small town of Freshwater is only a few minutes drive away and here there are a variety of shops, two small supermarkets and a great selection of public houses.
