This delightful cottage at Totland is within a 12-minute walk of Colwell Bay and Totland Bay. These sandy bays are popular with islanders and visitors can enjoy swimming, boating and fishing. This west side of the Isle of Wight is a wonderful walking area and footpaths can be followed along the nearby Coastal Path to the Needles on the western tip of the Island, or an attractive walk overlooking the Solent and Hurst Castle to Yarmouth. There is a scenic walk beside the River Yar towards the attractive coastal port and sailing centre of Yarmouth. The centre of the market town of Freshwater is within a 15-minute walk and this offers a collection of shops, public houses and restaurants, plus a sports centre with indoor pool and a golf course with panoramic coastal views.

Romany Cottage is situated in a quiet residential area. It is a charming cottage which has been furnished and equipped with great care to provide accommodation of a high standard for six people in three bedrooms. All the main living rooms are south west facing and there are three sets of French doors opening out onto the terrace. Almost all of the windows in the cottage have garden views. There are attractive wooden floors with rugs throughout the cottage. Upstairs there are three pretty bedrooms - two doubles and one twin with luxury wool rugs and a bathroom with a bath, overhead rain shower, basin and WC.

On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric fan oven, gas hob, extractor microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher, plus a charming breakfast area with seating for six; an open plan sitting room with a large leather sofa, arm chair, digital television with DVD and Freeview, and an open fire which visitors can relax in front of during colder weather; a spacious dining area for more formal meals with a wood burning stove; a cloakroom with a basin and WC; a side lobby with an area for hanging coats and removing boots. The cottage is centrally heated and has double glazed leaded light windows and doors. (Children 12 + welcome).

Romany has a charming enclosed sunny garden which is south west facing and provides a warm and protected spot to unwind. It has a large sunken garden as a central feature. Visitors can stroll around the garden and enjoy relaxing on seats in various parts of the garden. Garden furniture is also provided on the terrace so that meals can be enjoyed outside. The cottage is approached via a fairly narrow drive in which up to 4 cars can be parked; the entrance to the driveway from the road end is the narrowest point. It is suitable for larger cars with a turn around space at its widest point, at the top of the drive by reversing into the garage. Small boats and bicycles can be stored in the garage and there is also a room with an external entrance which is ideal for storage and airing clothing, and it includes a freezer and washing machine. There is a regular bus service within five minutes walk if you don't fancy using your car.

Fantastic welcome to the cottage! Everything was explained or given clearly and in advance (directions, fire safety regulations, wifi code, keycode, issue with the dishwasher, recommendations etc) The cottage was very well presented, very clean and spacious, even for 5 adults. We enjoyed the outdoor space on sunny afternoons after discovering the iRead moresland. The kitchen was very well appointed too. All in all a great stay where we would go again. Hide

Beautiful clean, cosy cottage, with lovely garden to sit out in. Good location for the ferry and exploring the island. Easy access to the coastal path, Totland and Colwell bays. Some useful shops in the village, within walking distance.

Fabulous venue within walking distance of local amenities and buses. The driveway was no problem for a slender Alfa 159 but I can imagine wider vehicles my have an issue with the fist couple of yards. Opening the garage doors and a "load master" to guide (the eldest boy) we were able complete a four point turn and exit with ease.

Lovely clean well appointed cottage, located in a popular area just a short walk to the sea (Colwell Bay). Well located for exploring the west of the island. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped. We used the table and chairs in the kitchen rather than the dining room. 2 of the bedrooms are a good size, but the third is a very small double, Read morewith little room around the bed. The beds, however, are super comfortable. The garden is a beautiful oasis of calm. Highly recommended. Hide

Romany was a real home from home. It was well maintained and equipped and very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed spending time in the beautiful garden as the weather was glorious whilst we were there. It was an easy walk into Freshwater with a choice of supermarkets and bus routes and a slightly longer walk to a good Indian Restaurant and the ReRead mored Lion pub where we had an excellent meal. We've stayed here more than once now, because it's a great location, great for a family that needs 'space' when on holiday, and very well maintained. Thoroughly recommended - except when we want to stay of course!
