Property code: OC-IC068

This lovely detached house stands close to the cliff top in the small seaside resort of Shanklin, on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight, and is within a five-minute walk of the golden bay. Here, the sand gently slopes into the water - paddling, swimming, boating and fishing can be enjoyed. There are sea views from several rooms and from the garden. On the esplanade there are restaurants and cafes, plus traditional seaside entertainment including various versions of crazy golf. The shops of the centre of town are within a few minutes walk, as is the picturesque old village centre with its thatched cottages, tea shops and beautiful chine.

Keats House is attractively furnished and has been equipped with care in a traditional style. It is centrally heated and has double glazed windows. Upstairs there are one double and two twin bedrooms. The double room is particularly attractive with sea views, a television and an en-suite shower room with WC and basin. Sea views can also be enjoyed from one of the twin rooms. (This has a 4ft bed and a standard 3ft single bed. There is a family bathroom with a bath, hand shower, built in shower basin and WC. There is also an annexe with a ground-floor double bedroom which has separate access from the main house and an en-suite shower room.

Downstairs there is a spacious open plan living room with a lovely dining area and sitting room with a large bay window from which the passing boats can be seen. It is furnished with three sofas, oak furniture and a television with Freeview and DVD player, and a Sony PlayStation with games. There is a separate breakfast room with television and Freeview which adjoins the kitchen. French doors open from here on to the terrace. The kitchen is equipped with fitted units, a double electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is an additional cloakroom with WC and basin on the ground floor. (A trundle bed, high chair and travel cot can be provided if requested, and arrangements can be made for a second person to share the 4ft bed in the twin room). Central heating, electricity and WiFi internet are provided without extra charge. Visitors may like to bring their own Chromecast plug-in to access additional television channels.

Keats House has a spacious, fenced and gated garden at the rear with lawns plus an area of decking where meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine and a sunbathing area. Garden furniture and an assortment of garden games are in the pretty summerhouse. There is parking for four cars in the front drive of the house. Visitors can walk directly from the house to the beach and can if desired, take a lift from the cliff top to the esplanade. Shops, restaurants and a good bus service are all within five minutes walk. There is also a train service available from Shanklin to Ryde, with ferry connections to the mainland.

We enjoyed a lovely week over the New Year. The weather was cold but sunny. We did lots of long walks followed by pub lunches. Would love to come again.

A beautiful house set in a fabulous location. It is extremely spacious, comfortab and fully equipped. The garden is large, dog friendly and east facing meaning it has the sun all day. It does have a hotel that runs alongside the property and can be a little noisy at times, especially the swimming pool that is at the bottom. The beach and shops are Read moreonly a 5 minute walk. Keats House was the best equipped house we have stayed in. Everything was clean and comfortable. It was lovely to have a large enclosed grass area for the dogs and our toddler grandson.
