This detached New England style house is within a seven-minute walk of two lovely beaches - the quiet sandy Priory Bay Beach and Seagrove Bay, with its variety of sand, rock pools and boating. This is a beautiful coastal area and the nearby coast path can be followed to St Helens and onwards to Bembridge. Alternatively, visitors can walk along the seafront of Seaview into Ryde; a seaside resort with traditional seaside entertainments, plus a swimming pool and bowling alley. The shops, cafes and restaurants at the centre of Seaview village are within a 25-minute walk.
Iona is situated in a lane on the outskirts of Seaview. In recent years it has been architecturally redesigned to provide spacious accommodation for eight people in a light and modern environment. It is centrally heated and double glazed. On the ground floor there is an attractive entrance hall which opens into a large open plan sitting room with leather sofas, a wall mounted television with Freeview; a separate fitted kitchen with electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and breakfast bar; a dining area, with a large table and chairs and patio doors opening on to the terrace; a second sitting room with a corner sofa, TV with Freeview and a DVD player; a double bedroom with French doors opening into the garden and an en-suite shower room with built in shower, basin and WC; a separate cloakroom with WC with basin.
An American Oak staircase winds up from the sitting room to three more spacious bedrooms; one twin room; a double room and the main bedroom with a king-size bed, and en-suite shower room with built in shower, basin and WC, a dressing area, and small mezzanine with desk and HiFi system. There is also a tiled family bathroom with a corner bath, built in shower basin and WC. A travel cot and high chair can be provided on request. WiFi internet is available.
There is a lovely fenced and gated garden at the rear of Iona. Immediately adjacent to the house is a terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. Five steps ascend to a large lawn with additional garden furniture and raised patio area. (Please be aware that there is a three foot drop between the lawn and the terrace and steps up to the raised patio. Children do therefore need to be closely supervised at all times). At the front of the property there is a large drive and area of garden. Here, four cars can be accommodated. There is covered storage for bikes. Within five minutes walk is a bus service, public house and general stores. There is a large supermarket and shopping centre in Ryde - ten minutes drive. Nearby places to visit include Havenstreet Steam Railway, Robin Hill Adventure Park and Osborne House - the island home of Queen Victoria.
