This Grade II listed stone cottage is attractively situated in a courtyard of five cottages in a peaceful, rural hamlet only one and a half miles from the centre of Shanklin. This seaside resort boasts a vast, sandy beach which gently slopes to the water - ideal for swimming and paddling, and offers a range of activities and traditional amusements. The cottage is surrounded by patchwork, open farmland with some nearby woodland. This is a good walking area, and visitors can stroll into Shanklin or follow footpaths on to the downs where there are wonderful panoramic coastal views and inter linking footpaths to some of the major walking trails on the Island. There are a variety of shops in Shanklin, and also in the market town of Newport which is within a 15-minute drive.
Harvest Cottage has been lovingly converted from the original stables of Apse Manor House and dates back to 1695. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard, providing comfortable accommodation for four people in two bedrooms. The cottage is centrally heated. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer; a country cottage style dining area with a circular table and dresser and a separate spacious sitting room with a large sofa and chairs, Smart television and CD player with iPod docking station.
Stairs lead up to a bathroom with a bath, handheld shower, basin and WC.; one double room with a wall mounted television and a second bedroom with a five foot zip and link bed which can be used as a second double room, or as a twin room for children (2ft 6 beds) upon request. A travel cot and high chair can be provided if required. Heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. Wifi internet can also be provided.
The cottage has an enclosed, sunny courtyard with garden furniture and a barbecue so that meals can be enjoyed outside. A gate opens into a further area where two cars can be parked beside the cottage. A regular bus service is within a ten minutes walk. You will find small general stores and a post office within one mile. Nearby places to visit include Amazon World Zoo Park, the picturesque village of Godshill and the medieval castle of Carisbrooke. The seaside towns of Sandown and Ventnor are within an easy five to ten minute drive and almost all areas of the island can be reached within 45 minutes.
