Driftwood Cottage is within a three minute walk of the beach at Brighstone on the south west coast of the Isle of Wight; a quiet beach where swimming and paddling can be enjoyed. This is An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a particularly beautiful stretch of rural coastline. It is a delightful walking area with the nearby coastal path extending eastwards to Niton or to The Needles on the western tip of the island. The charming village centre of Brightone is a pleasant 15 minute walk inland and here there is a tea shop/bistro, a public house for meals, general stores, and a small museum and village church. From here there are some wonderful downland walks and cycle routes. Particularly attractive, is the Tennyson Trail which links The Needles with Carisbrooke Castle close to the centre of the Isle of Wight. There are a number of small coves within a short drive of the property including Freshwater, Totland and Colwell. Surfing can be enjoyed at Compton Bay and this is also a renowned area for fossils.

Driftwood is attractively situated in a small courtyard of five cottages. There are coastal or downland views from most of the rooms. On the ground floor there is a large open plan sitting room with comfortable leather sofas, a Smart flat screen television with a DVD player and feature fire place with coal effect convector fire. Patio doors open from the sitting room on to a terrace with views across fields to the nearby downs. There is a dining area with DAB radio; a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and washing machine (a freezer is also provided); a ground floor double bedroom with downland views; a family bathroom with a bath, shower over the bath, basin and WC.

Stairs lead up from the sitting room to two further bedrooms - one twin room and the master double bedroom - a delightful room with French doors opening on to a small balcony with sea views and an en-suite shower room with built in shower, WC. and basin. A travel cot, highchair, stairgate and folding bed can be provided for an additional child. The folding bed is an additional £35 per week or short break. The cottage is warmed by electric heaters and WiFi is available.

Driftwood Cottage has a private terrace with wonderful views and is open to the larger gardens which have shared use. Visitors can relax and enjoy views across fields to the nearby downs. Parking is available for two cars in the drive to the side of the cottages. A car can be driven close to the rear cottage patio for ease of access at the time of arrival and departure. A bus service is within a 15-minute walk and a farm shop within a few minutes walk. A small supermarket and a variety of shops and public houses are in Freshwater; 10 to 15 minutes drive. Larger shops and supermarkets can be found in the market town of Newport ; 20 minutes drive. Nearby places to visit include The National Trust gardens of Mottistone, Blackgang Adventure Park and Yarmouth Castle. The sports centre at Freshwater has a swimming pool and fitness room, and golf can be enjoyed on the nearby Freshwater Bay Golf Club.

Lovely cottage in a stunning and quiet location. Very comfortable and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay. Only disappointment was the garden, which was not enclosed as stated. Great cottage which was well equipped for our needs travelling with 3 generations of our family. Lovely views from all aspects of the house and a short walk to the beach. Only negatives were 5pm checkin and 9.30 checkout and could do with being a bit cleaner. Great stay and we would return.

Property in a beautiful location, very clean and comfortable, very well equipped, upstairs very comfortable warm, downstairs not so much, quilt in downstairs bedroom very thin, could benefit from replacement. Radiator programmes need cancelling and resetting.

We chose Driftwood Cottage because of its reviews - and none of them was wrong! It is an ideal location - well away from crowds with magnificent views and very dark skies at night. The cottage itself was very suited to our three generations with the family upstairs and the grandparents downstairs, each group virtually self contained and with its owRead moren privacy. Driftwood is very well equipped and spacious with a separate kitchen which we really liked. It was a lovely place to come back to. Hide

Good location especially for young families as beach is so close. Shop in Brighstone village provides a good selection of odd and drink and there is plenty to do within easy reach of cottage.
