Apple Tree Lodge is situated within three minutes of Shanklin's golden beach where the sand gently slopes to the sea - ideal for paddling and swimming. On the sea front there is a variety of entertainment including a children's play park. It is only a two-minute walk from the lodge to the cliff path for beautiful views across Sandown Bay to the white cliff of Culver. Shanklin is a quaint resort with a collection of interesting shops and restaurants. The Old Village of Shanklin has pretty thatched cottages, tea shops and public houses, plus a beautiful chine.

The lodge has been decorated with care to provide fresh and comfortable accommodation for four people. On the ground floor there is a spacious sitting room with windows to the front and rear - furnished with comfortable sofas, a television and DVD player; a pleasant dining area by the front window which overlooks the garden; a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher, plus a breakfast area; a small utility area with a washing machine and small work top freezer; a cloakroom with W.C and basin.

Stairs lead up to two bedrooms; one double and one twin room. There is also a fully tiled bathroom with a bath, separate built in shower, basin and WC. The lodge is centrally heated and double glazed.  A wooden cot and high chair is available. WiFi internet is available.

Apple Tree Lodge is one of two adjoining properties and it has a pleasant, sunny garden at the front and side with lawns and shrubs. The side lawn is attractively fenced with a small gate opening into the front garden - furniture and a barbecue are provided. In the evening visitors can relax in the garden watching the sun set over the downs beyond the town.

The quickest route from the lodge to the beach involves a two-minute walk and a lift ride from the cliff top to the esplanade. (Open Easter to late October). Alternatively, visitors can walk directly to the beach in about five minutes. One car can be parked in the drive and additional cars can be parked in nearby roads subject to availability. There is a regular bus service available from a convenient stop next to the cottage including the number 22, Shanklin Shuttle and Island Coaster buses. A train service is 0.4 miles away.

What a lovely place to stay! Its in a great location for Shanklin village and for the coast path, has a parking space and a garden. It was clean, comfortable and equipped with everything we could possibly need. A great base for a holiday on the island.

A very comfortable, clean, homely and well equipped cottage, really close to the seafront. We had a wonderful holiday walking the coastal paths. Great bus service if you wanted to leave the car at the cottage. We did some amazing walks and returned on the bus.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The house was ideal, clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Plenty of storage space for items in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. A most satisfactory and comfortable house. It is difficult to cook, however, as there are no basic cooking supplies.

This property was perfect for our needs, and it exactly matched the web description. The owners who live next door were very welcoming. On arrival the house was immaculate , and it was a thoughtful touch to leave fresh milk in the fridge, plus tea and coffee, for a very welcome cup of tea. The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable. It is ideally situated close to the beach, the shops and the railway and bus stations. An excellent base to explore the island and to relax afterwards. We really enjoyed our week at the cottage and are grateful for the great care the owners have taken to make this the perfect holiday home.
