Holiday Information

Wareham is the principle town and marks the entrance to Purbeck. The town has a number of unique attractions including walking atop the city wall, rowing a boat along the river or exploring the forested park on the edge of the town.

Wareham acts as the gateway to Purbeck and the village of Corfe Castle and seaside resort of Swanage are within a short drive. Wareham also has great road links to Dorset sites including Arne Reserve, Durdle Door and West towards Dorchester.

To See and Do in

Walk along Wareham Town Wall - The Wareham Town Wall dates back to Saxon times and provides an enjoyable and educational walk around the town. The easiest place to start the walk is from the centre of Wareham and heading up West Street past the Rex Cinema. At the end of the row of shops and houses the wall will appear at a grassy bank on your right up onto which there is a path. Follow the path and signposts all the way round. If you feel the walk is too long you can turn back into town at almost any point.

Traditional Cinema - The Rex Cinema in Wareham is maintained as a traditional cinema and often screens art house cinema. There is a lovely little bar for wine and snacks which can be enjoyed with the film. - www.therex.co.uk

Row along Wareham River - The pretty river at Warham is ideal for a gentle boat trip. Boats are available for hire next to Wareham Bridge and can be rowed upstream to view open countryside and Weeping Willow bending down to the water. For the less energetic there are motorboats for hire.

Wareham Forest Walks - Wareham forest is criss crossed with walks and cycle routes. There are so many routes that the best ways to enjoy it is to be prepared to get lost and simply enjoy exploring. There are sign posts which will always take you back to the road.
