Self-catering holiday accommodation in Arne
A small village and civil parish, Arne is situated on the Northern edge of the Isle of Purbeck next to Poole Harbour. Famous for its RSPB Nature Reserve, it is the perfect place to base yourself for a tranquil and peaceful holiday. Celebrated for its lowland heathland, which is rare in Europe, and its wonderful variety of wildlife, including Dartford Warblers and Nightjars, it is a real treat for birdwatchers and nature lovers in general.
Interestingly, the village was evacuated during World War II when it was utilised as a decoy site by the Royal Navy. Since then, most buildings in the village have been rebuilt, but there is still one old building, the small 13th Century church of St. Nicholas. Surrounded by wonderful walks and within a half an hour drive to the gorgeous sandy beaches and pretty bays in the South of the Isle, you will not find a prettier place to spend a holiday. Nearby, you'll find Studland Bay, with its long stretch of sandy beach, while you're also close to Poole, with its wide range of places to eat and shop, as well as its regular boat trips to Brownsea Island.
