We have been fortunate enough to be able to welcome a number of guests with physical disabilities to our Access Exceptional holiday cottage Yafford Mill Barn.
Yafford Mill Barn has been specifically designed to accommodate those with mobility issues while remaining a very homely and comfortable environment. Able bodied guests (or the ‘not yet disabled’ as some shrewdly know them) are unlikely to notice the subtle but highly practical features which make this cottage so accommodating for those with disabilities as most of these features are also useful to all. Features such as a large and spacious wet room, a microwave with a sliding base, clean and uncluttered surfaces between rooms and wide door ways.
To be awarded Access Exceptional Yafford Mill Barn has to comply with the very highest standards of disabled access self catering holiday cottages. This includes having high quality beds which can accommodate a bed lift, appropriate hand rails in the bathroom, a cooker and kitchen which can be used from a wheel chair and much much more.
Yafford Mill has achieved exceptional disabled access self catering status while also having a 5 Star Gold Award self catering rating. This level of comfort and accessibility truely makes Yafford Mill a wonderful choice for disabled access self catering accommodation on the Isle of Wight.
This photograph of Yarmouth Harbour was taken this weekend in the evening light. Yarmouth is a beautiful small town with a historic castle and beautiful coastal and seaside views from both the pier and the harbour.
We think this photograph is a poor likeness of what it really looked like with the last rays of the evening light reflecting off the still water. However, we hope it gives you a little taste of what it was like.
Ps. we will be adding a new Yarmouth holiday cottage in the next few days.
Almost all of our holiday cottages accept children and young adults and that is one of the features which makes a self catering holiday on the Isle of Wight such a family friendly holiday.
Children and young adults now have so much more to enjoy on the Isle of Wight and alongside the organised events and activities there are also so many adventures and activities to enjoy outside. Families with children often enjoy mountain biking, kayaking, horse riding, exploring castles and WWII sites, looking for old smugglers caves on the coast as well as much much more.
To help you with some ideas for children friendly and family friendly self catering holiday cottage accommodation we have put together a selection of some of our favourites.

There are so many lovely things to see and do on the Isle of Wight it is sometimes hard to choose which to do first and where to start. To help you along we have a handy attraction guide with a map of where each one is on the Island.
Here you can find a range of indoor and outdoor activities which are suitable for the family or those seeking adventure. Family fun parks and organised events jostle for you attention alongside paragliding, kayaking and tree climbing. For those looking for a more tranquile form of relaxation may prefer the historic buildings, vineyards, Roman ruins, castles and bird hides.
