Comments left in Upper Dolcoppice Farmhouse guestbook

23rd - 30th September 2017 - Thank you Janet. We've had a fab weeks holiday. Everything very comfortable. What a lovely spot. We've enjoyed sharing with the owls, pheasants, green woodpecker, and sheep of course. Blessed with a mix of mostly sunny warm weather. How lucky were we. Having visited the IofW four years ago it was great to revisit our favourite haunts again. Hope we don't leave it another 4 years! Thank goodness for online shopping..The garlic farm goodies don't seem so far away. Already thinking of buying a super king bed! Happy holiday everyone, Gary, Sue Lena.

12th - 19th August 2017 - What a fantastic house, perfect for the family and our very inquisitive Labrador (who didn't manage to escape anywhere!).

5th - 12th August 2017 - Loved the house and the fact that we were secluded and had lots of space for the kids (4 young boys) to run around. We enjoyed Ventnor beach, good amenities available and you can park just up the hill. Steephill cove was great for crabbing; and exploring over the rocks, but you need to ensure the tide is out. The crab soup in the beach shack was very nice. Also visited the Model Village in Godshill which was good, and Dinosaur Isle in Shanklin was good on a wet day. We also had a day at the Isle of Wight steam railway and went back for cakes the next day. All in all a great week. Johnson and Knowle family
PS Forgot one of the best days..The Needles. Loved walking down to the National Trust site and exploring it. Never got chance to take the cable car. Would recommend a picnic as food is overpriced.

29th July - 5th August 2017 - Wonderful family holiday in your beautiful house. We have enjoyed the peace and tranquillity here and the space to let dogs and kids run free! The house is incredibly well equipped with plenty of room for everyone; we will definitely be back! Many thanks, The Shaws and Garnett families

8th July 2017 -Beautiful house in stunning surroundings. Very comfortable accommodation. Good Sunday lunch at The White Horse in Whitwell – book or arrive early. Fantastic, relaxing holiday. Ryde – Appley Beach; beyond tower, fine for dogs, uncrowded and sandy, amazing beach. Thankyou; hope to be back, Hills family

17th June - 1st July 2017 - Thank you for a very nice holiday in your fabulous home. Wildlife amazing, owls, badgers, pheasants and more. Left food out at 8:30 every evening for the badgers. Bentley the bulldog loved the garden. Had Indian takeaway from Newport, beautiful Tamarind Indian restaurant; and Chinese from Ventnor New China House, both delivered. Recommend the Chequers Inn. Thankyou again hopefully to be back next year. Lisa and family.

10th June 2017 - This is a superbly refurbished old farm house. Its ideal location gave us peace and serenity whilst the children and dog were able to play freely outside in the grassed garden without us having to worry. We especially enjoyed seeing the wildlife i.e. pheasants, rabbits, badgers etc roam through the gardens at will. This will be a holiday that our family will remember for a long long time. Time to go home, but no one wants to leave. Thanks, The Elliott family

3rd June 2017 - What can I say! What a fab house in amazing surroundings! The wildlife is so easy to see, and all the children loved running free. We all had such a wonderful time as the weather was gorgeous too. Thank you so much for all the thoughtful touches, much appreciated. Emery, Clements and Hardy families

19th - 26th May 2017
- Spent a week here and we have loved it. House amazing, grounds amazing, the surroundings are glorious and just a dream! Dogs loved it, we loved it and would come back. A dream, wonderful, well done. We relaxed, dogs relaxed and enjoyed all the walks - amazing! Del family

29th April - 6th March 2017
- Just perfect. We;ve seen the more rural side of the island, and its just lovely. Feel totally relaxed! Our three labradoodles loved it too! Thank you for being so thoughtful with the little touches that make all the different. The Eccles

15th - 22nd April 2017 - An extremely comfortable and well equipped house in a stunning location. It was enjoyed by us all - three generations and three dogs! We loved the peace and tranquility of the location of the house. It was great being able to have the space for the dogs and children to run around outside. We were lucky with the weather and made many visits to the beach. Cox and Fletcher families

17th September - 24th September 2016 - Lovely time in an amazing house in an amazing location. Wish we could stay longer! Great time with cricket, badminton and beach ball in the garden. First time together as an extended family. Pub food in Whitwell very good. The Scroggs family

3rd September - 10th September 2016 - Had a lovely time in the house. Dogs and toddler loved it! Would recommend going to Steephill Cove in Ventnor. The Bucks

27th August - 3rd September 2016 - We have had a lovely stay at your beautiful house with fantastic surroundings! Our two eldest children enjoyed running around and exploring the grounds with both sets of their grandparents whilst here. And our youngest son thoroughly enjoyed his first holiday! Thank you, we will be recommending to all our friends. 'The Coopers' and 'The Shorters'

13th August - 27th August 2016 - A lovely house fully equipped. Beautiful grounds which the dog and boys made good use of. The welcome pack was much appreciated and a lovely gesture. The Hunneybel family

30th July - 6th August 2016 - A fantastic house in a lovely remote setting. The dogs loved the freedom of the garden with no disturbances (as did us adults and two small children). Welcome pack was much appreciate and all facilities were great and well thought of. Had some lovely meals at the nearby Chequers pub which also has a great play area. Will definitely be back when we can. Thank you, the Collett family.

23rd July - 30th July 2016 - Lovely house, very welcoming and spacious, perfect for eight people. From the Sneaths and Nassaus, Nottingham

9th July - 15th July 2016 - A really beautiful house in a fantastic setting. The six of us (plus our dog) have really enjoyed ourselves. Our dog has loved seeing the sheep, as have we together with the barn owls, pheasant and rabbits! Thank you for the welcome basket - a lovely gesture and we very much enjoyed the cava.We look forward to staying again - we love the Isle of Wight and we loved it here. Thank you from the Edneys

25th June - 2nd July 2016 - We all had a brilliant time, the house is amazing 'even the power cut'. The grounds are amazing for the dog and little one, thanks for the welcome pack it was a lovely touch. Could not fault the house or the facilities. Thank you from us 8 Brewer family

18th June - 25th June 2016 - A really fantastic place to stay; such an idyllic setting that is so tranquil it is beyond belief. Come rain or shine the space within the house and the well equipped contents ensured that we were all well catered for. We enjoyed our daily trip in the morning to the Chale Store....never quite made it for afternoon tea though! Definitely a house and location we would recommend and have every intention of returning to. Thank you for the wonderful welcome items left for us, much appreciated after a day spent travelling. The Franklin Family (x4)

13th - 17th June 2016 - A great holiday in a gorgeous place. A lovely home, in a beautiful rural setting, which is so peaceful and tranquil. The perfect getaway, but yet so many places within easy reach. The house is so well equipped, and many scrumptious meals were prepared in the light, airy and very pleasant kitchen. Great fish was bought in Ventnor. We visited the Needles via a walk through National Trust Land and Niton where we had lunch in the lovely pub, The Buddle Inn. Moltistone Gardens are gorgeous on a sunny day, with a delightful tea garden to finish off a perfect visit. There are many beautiful walks from the house with the variety of scenic vistas from woods to sea views. We worked up an appetite for the yummy cream teas and pub meals. We so enjoyed the stillness and peace at night as we have been living in a noisy, bustling city so it was wonderful to experience the nightly silence. Comfy sofas and iPlayer on the TV too. We will be back!! Jane and Leslie Wood

28th May - 4th June 2016 - What an amazing start to our holiday pulling up to this beautiful house. Everything you could possibly wish for and more. The house is so well equipped and we all enjoyed exploring the grounds. We discovered a good Chinese takeaway that delivers if anyone is interested, the New China House in Ventnor. We also enjoyed a lovely meal out the White Horse in Whitwell which had an extensive menu and incredible value for money. BIG portions, we are already planning our next visit. Thank you so much, the Bedding, Waugh and Gore families.

30th April - 7th May, 2016 - A beautiful house with everything you could need. The grounds are wonderful the kids and dog loved exploring. It was a challenge to get them to leave. We will definitely be coming back, thank you

23rd April - 29th April, 2016 A very nice home with fantastic settings, maybe a little bridge over the gravel to protect my dogs paws lol! Not a bad word or thought to be had, will re-visit for sure. Thanks for everything, Mr & Mrs Woods.

26th March - 1st April, 2016 A fantastic house. Perfect location, garden and fields for the dog - thank you.

18th - 21st December 2015 - A lovely, well equipped house, lots of welcoming touches, Christmas decorations appreciated and welcome pack. Beautiful location, felt we were away from it all even though only a few miles from home. Wonderful weekend, thank you. The Porter family, Cowes

24th October - 31st October, 2015 - Ideally located for IOW, a few tweaks would make it a stunning place to stay! Thank you for the welcome pack - much appreciated. Kate, Steve, Peter, Rosie, Poppy, Brenda, Barbara, George and Peter J.

16th October, 2015 - We've had a brilliant week, even the weather has been kind to us! The house and grounds are wonderful, but the lack of wildlife amazed us, until we saw the buzzards and kestrels regularly scouting for prey! Our black labrador, Shadow has had a brilliant time too. We really appreciated the welcome pack including the doggie chews, very tasty! Thank you, we will return. Clare and John, Suffolk.

3rd October, 2015 - A gorgeous, well presented house that has been a fantastic place to stay, it's been amazingly quiet!! Your online particulars sell yourself a bit sort, you should mention the SMART TV and the kitchen is fully equipped, scales, muffin tins, electric beater (!!). Brilliant for people that love to cook while on holiday. Thanks for the lovely little welcome pack too. Many thanks, the Morgan family.

25th September, 2015 A lovely, peaceful place to stay away from the hustle and bustle. Beautiful surroundings. This house is magical, we all feel so rested and so pleased to have stayed here, thank you. The Findlay Family, Kent.

19th September, 2015 Like most people we really did need to get away from it all. Staying here has certainly provided that!! An incredibly relaxing holiday. Nice and comfortable (main bedroom) bed. Thank you for the welcome pack. Would love to return here. Pat, Steve and family.

11th September, 2015 A great house in a lovely location. Away from the hustle and bustle but close enough if you want to get anywhere. Probably the best house / location we have stayed in (there have been many) and what would have made it that little bit better would be mirrors in the bedrooms etc. We will be back.

4th September, 2015 - A lovely house, well situated and well provided with every necessity. We have had a great week and have enjoyed coming back to this house and the scenery! A mirror in the bedroom would be a bonus. Thank you, the Elmes and Green family -

29th August, 2015 - Beautiful, peaceful house and a lovely place to relax. Despite the rain, we did some lovely walks. Would recommend parking on the coastline north of the Needles and walking to it rather than parking there, beautiful walk. 2 lovely meals at The Taverners too. Would love to visit again, thank you. The Holt family, Solihull

22nd August, 2015 - What a fantastic house set in beautiful grounds! The children loved exploring, climbing trees and running around in the grounds. So much space to keep everyone happy. We did some fantastic days out to Ventnor, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, Shanklin Beach and Alum Bay. The location was perfectly secluded but ideal to get everywhere within 30 mins.

1st August, 2015 - Beautiful house in a lovely setting. We have had a fun-filled week and would recommend visiting Carisbrooke Castle, a boat trip to the Needles and obviously Osbourne House. The Scully family, Brentwood, Essex.

24th July, 2015 - Really lovely, peaceful place to stay. We'd love to come back again!

South Isle of Wight Information

The South of the Isle of Wight is a wonderful mix of pretty beaches and dramatic coastal landscape. The sand and shingle beach at Ventnor is one of the more popular holiday locations but hidden gems such as Bonchurch and Steephill Cove are really worth a visit too.

The coastal path around the South Coast of the Isle of Wight is a particularly beautiful stretch to explore and passes a number of attractive sites which include Steephill Cove, Orchard Bay and St Catherine's Light House at Niton Undercliff. Some of this area has been prone to erosion so you must stick to the footpath and take heed of diversions.

Inland one finds a beautiful rural area with high downs from which panoramic views can be enjoyed. A Botanical garden at Ventnor takes advantage of a warm micro climate found in this part of the Island. View more South Isle of Wight Cottages
