This lovely Edwardian property is situated on the outer edge of Wootton, less than a mile from the coast and only a short drive from the sandy beaches of Ryde. There are open views across the gardens and nearby fields to the sea, and the Hampshire coastline can be seen in the distance. This is a lovely walking and cycling area with country lanes leading to the coast and visitors can join a nearby cycle track linking the market town of Newport and the famous coastal sailing town of Cowes. Osborne House, the island home of Queen Victoria is within a 10 minute drive.

It is situated in delightful countryside between the villages of Godshill and Whitwell and is only a 5 minute drive from the coast. The seaside resort of Ventnor is 5 km away and the sandy beaches of Shankllin and Ventnor are within a 10 to 15 minute drive. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area with direct access to a network of footpaths including a wonderful walk along the River Yar which extends from its source in Niton on the south coast to Bembridge, with its beautiful wetland area in the east. The cottage has a secure fenced garden and is well equipped.

Mead Cottage is attractively situated on a 12 acre farm on the edge of the small rural hamlet of Alverstone in “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. This is a wonderful position for outdoor pursuits, walking, cycling, fishing and golf. In the village there are lovely water meadows and fishing ponds with hides for bird and red squirrel watching. There are many footpaths leading up on to the downs and towards the coast.

This lovely stone cottage was originally a large and ancient stone barn at Sainham Farm. It is situated in the attractive courtyard and has marvellous open views from the rear across the fields to the downs. Stag Cottage is in one of the loveliest parts of the Island lying at the foot of Appuldurcombe Down and above the picturesque village of Godshill in ‘An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. Godshill can be reached by taking a pleasant stroll through the beech copse and across the fields. The village has a variety of tea shops and restaurants as well as two public houses.

This picturesque Grade II listed cottage dates back to 1676 and is attractively situated at the end of a quiet lane with a lovely ford and footpath leading to the nearby medieval castle of Carisbrooke. Located in the oldest part of Carisbrooke village which is a conservation area lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The castle is only 5 minutes walk away and can be glimpsed from the garden and main bedrooms. This is a wonderful walking area as within 5 minutes walk of the cottage visitors can join the famous Tennyson Trail which follows the downs westerly towards The Needles.

Two Mead Cottage is one of a pair of cottages which stand in the attractive rural hamlet of Alverstone and is less than a 5 minute drive from the lovely sandy beaches of Sandown on the east coast of the Island. The cottage is located on a small 12 acre farm which is home to horses, cows and a few free range chickens. The farm is in “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” and has a charming large pond which attracts ducks, moorhens and the occasional heron.

Sea Whisper is a semi detached property standing within a 7 minute walk of the sandy beach of Shanklin - a lovely bay with sand gently sloping into the water. The property is also within a 5 minute walk of the small shops, restaurants, public houses and entertainments of the resort and the pretty Old Village of Shanklin with its thatched cottages and beautiful Chine. Visitors can walk down to the sea or take a lift from the cliff top. There are views across the town with glimpses of the sea and Culver Cliffs from several of the rooms and from the charming balconies which can be accessed from the sitting room and twin bedroom. Squire Thatcher’s Barn, which adjoins Paper Barn, has been carefully converted from an 18th Century Grade II Listed stone barn. It overlooks a lovely large open grassy courtyard which is often adorned by ducks. Stables are on two side of the courtyard, and an 18th Century threshing barn and farmhouse are on the other side. The cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms with two bath/shower rooms.The cottage has been furnished and equipped with care. Squire Thatcher’s Barn has a lovely light and spacious open-plan sitting room with comfortable sofas, television/Freeview/DVD/ video recorder and a hi-fi system. There is a pleasant dining area by a window with lovely views across fields towards the downs. The fitted kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. A washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer are also provided. The cottage has three pretty bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a twin and a double room; a bathroom with a bath and a separate shower, WC and sink. A spiral staircase leads up to an additional attractive double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, with basin and WC. The cottage is warmed by storage heaters and additional electric heaters can be provided. Heating and electricity are free of charge. A travel cot/high chair can be made available. The cottage has a wireless broadband internet (WiFi) connection available.
At the rear of the cottage there is a lovely fenced garden with wonderful open views across fields to Arreton and Mersley Downs. There is an attractive terrace with garden furniture, a lawned area and a barbecue area. A barbecue can be made available free of charge on request. Two cars can be parked at the rear of the cottage. Rural bus service ¼ miles. Access to the cottage is along a bridleway and private lane which is bumpy in places. Nearby places to visit include Amazon Adventure, The Garlic Farm, The Roman Villa, Carisbrooke Castle and Havenstreet Steam Railway.
Squire Thatchers Barn has ground floor accommodation and is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at a charge of £12.00 at Squire Thatchers Barn. Squire Thatchers Barn is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 15:00 and the normal departure time is 10:00. Short break weekend and midweek self catering holidays are available from and 27th October 2018 to 20th December 2018.

Sandown to Newchurch Cycle Track - A flat cycle track runs from Sandown to Newchurch and passes close by. You can easily cycle to the beach at Sandown or head inland towards Newport where there are routes peeling off to Godshill, Wroxall, Cowes and most of the rest of the Isle of Wight. Local nature reserve - Alverstone Mead and the SSSI of Alverstone Marshes are within a short walk of Borthwood. Join the cycle track at Alverstone and head towards Sandown. You will cross the reserve along the way.
