This farmhouse is attractively situated on the edge of the pretty village of Shalfleet towards the West side of the Isle of Wight. The cottage adjoins the grounds of Shalfleet Manor House and has its own private entrance into a quiet lane which leads from the village to a footpath on Newtown Creek. This estuary, which is only a few minutes walk from the farmhouse, is part of a National Nature Reserve and is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Shalfleet Manor Farmhouse is perfect for a large family gathering. There were seven of us plus a golden retriever. The house is comfortable and spacious. The large garden is enclosed. Lovely swimming pool. Every day we walked down to the quay to see the boats and interesting bird life. Cottage Rating: 5 Stars

Excellent property in a fabulous location, which has had a great makeover recently. Great walks on the doorstep. The variety of wild birds visiting the feeders by the front windows is amazing, great for close up photos! Take some sunflower hearts and a bird spotting book for non stop entertainment! This nature lovers paradise is best enjoyed by following the coastal path to Yarmouth which takes in several types of habitat. Shalfleet has a historic church and traditional public house serving good food and local beer. Freshwater is within a short drive of Shalfleet or reached via a pleasant rural walk.

The George in nearby Yarmouth - A luxurious restaurant in Yarmouth serving excellent food in beautiful surroundings. The George is considered one of the best restaurants on the Isle of Wight and ideal for treating someone special. Red Lion Public House in nearby Freshwater - The Red Lion is a traditional public house serving great food using local produce and local caught seafood. The Red Lion is in the neighbouring small town of Freshwater but their is a lovely estuary side walk which runs from Yarmouth. To walk simply follow the marked cycle route in the direction of Freshwater till you reach the small road bridge. Turn right, cross the bridge and continue for 200 yards to the pub. The ride starts in Freshwater Bay, joins a cycle track on the edge of Freshwater town going to Yarmouth. After seeing Yarmouth, with it's castle and boutique shops, the route continues to Totland and Totland Bay, where there is a beautiful beach, and on towards Alum Bay where we turn back towards Freshwater.

Two dogs are welcome and the back garden is fenced. Pets are not permitted upstairs, on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We also ask owners not to leave dogs on their own in the cottage and not to allow them to foul the garden. Puppies and also dogs with incontinence problems are not permitted without specific agreement. Please ensure that your pet's treatment for the prevention of fleas is up to date.
