A thatched cottage, dating from the 19th century, Laurel Cottage retains many of its original features. The low ceilings, winding staircase, and narrow doorways, which are part of its charm, mean that is unsuitable for wheel-chair users and people with limited mobility may wish to ask for further details. A modern kitchen and bathroom extension have been added on the ground floor.

Access to the Cottage

Access to the cottage is by 6 steps (depth 8 ½”) from the driveway with a handrail on the right hand side, or by 4 steps of varying depth through the front gate from the road.

The patio, which leads to the back door, has a single step, which is 6” in depth opposite the door.

In the path, which leads up the garden, there are two steps, each of 6” depth.

Ground floor

There is a shallow step (2 ½” depth) between the kitchen and the dining room, and another step (2” depth) between the dining room and lounge.

A staircase of 10 steps (9” depth) leads from the lounge to the front bedroom. There is a handrail on the right hand side going up.

Bedrooms

Access to the second bedroom is through the front bedroom.

Duvets and pillows are of synthetic material. Blankets can be provided as an alternative.
