This delightful stone cottage is situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Godshill, on the East side of the Isle of Wight, within a 10 minute drive of the sandy beaches of Shanklin, Sandown and Ventnor. This is also a delightful walking area with various footpaths and trails close to Christmas Cottage. The cottage has been furnished and equipped with great sensitivity to provide delightful accommodation.There are furnishings and artefacts from around the world combined with a wonderful use of colour. The property is situated opposite the Post Office, and can be accessed to the front and rear.

There is parking to the rear from 5.30pm - 9.30am.

From the front you can unload for an hour and park over night from 6 pm.

There is a free car park 100 yards away and parking in the lane 50 yards away.

The front door is accessed up 2 steps.

The rear door is accessed through one gate and 2 steps to double conservatory doors. There is an internal rear door with another 2 steps.

Both front and rear doors are 88 cm wide.

The cottage stands adjacent to a beautiful 11th century church. A pleasant old public house with a large duck pond is within a 1 minute walk and Shorwell still has its own village shop. There are a variety of small sandy coves within a short drive where visitors can enjoy swimming, paddling, boating and fishing.

This delightful stone cottage which dates back to 1761 is built of Isle of Wight chalk and brick. Hackney Stable cottage is situated on a lovely farm in beautiful South Wight countryside. It is a marvellous walking area with footpaths that can be followed directly from the cottage in most directions. There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar, to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a public house, farm shop and cafe for meals. The cottage is excellent for cyclists as there is access to a network of cycle paths directly from the farm and arrangements can be make for the storage of bikes. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are all within a 15 minute drive. Ferries can be booked for you at greatly discounted prices.

Christmas Cottage is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at a charge of £12.00 at Christmas Cottage. Christmas Cottage is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 15:00 and the normal departure time is 10:00. Short break weekend and midweek self catering holidays are available from 28th October 2017 to 17th December 2017, 6th January 2018 to 8th February 2018, 17th February 2018 to 22nd March 2018 and 27th October 2018 to 20th December 2018.

Local Walk From Godshill

Walk or Cycle to Shanklin - This walk first follows the Stenbury Trail to Wroxall and then the cycle track to Shanklin. To reach the Stenbury Trail from Godshill head out of town along the main road towards Shanklin before turning right after 200 yards onto the trail. Continue up the trail to the Freemantle Gate (photo of the Freemantle Gate) which you pass thought and follow the path which bears left across the fields towards Appuldurcombe and Wroxall. There is a wide flat cycle way that runs from Wroxall to Shanklin. The track starts below the old railway bridge in the centre of Wroxall. If you are walking there is a footpath leading from alongside the bridge to the start of the track but if you are on a bike you must cross the bridge and follow the cycle path signs. Once you are on the track it is clearly signposted all the way to Shanklin. The track runs along the old railway line and the banks on either side are lined with lush vegetation.

Specific Pet Policy for Christmas Cottage

Two/three dogs are welcome by agreement. Pets can be left in the property in the kitchen if they are not noisy or destructive. Pets are not permitted upstairs, on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We also ask owners not to allow dogs to foul the garden. Puppies may be accepted by agreement if caged. Dogs with incontinence problems are not permitted without specific agreement. Please ensure that your pet's treatment for the prevention of fleas is up to date.
