Whitwell is a charming village, just minutes from the south coast of the Isle of Wight. Within easy reach of the beaches at Ventnor and all along the south west coast, it makes an excellent location for those looking for a traditional beach holiday. Whitwell is a small friendly community with a 700-year-old church, the oldest pub on the island dating from the 15th century and a post office which proudly sits inside the church bell tower.
An ideal location for walkers, there are numerous footpaths and cycling trails running through the village, including a footpath into nearby Godshill where there is a great pub serving excellent food.
The village of Niton is only a five-minute drive away and here you can find the renowned St. Catherine’s Oratory, a famous landmark built in 1328 as penance by a local landowner who had plundered church property from a ship wrecked nearby. It stands on one of the highest points of the Isle of Wight and is part of the Tennyson Heritage Coast which runs all along the South West Coast of the island.
