Traditional Purbeck cottage, offering thoughtfully maintained period-style accommodation for up to nine, set within almost one acre of attractive grounds, located in the Dorset village of Worth Matravers.

This detached cottage is beautifully situated close to the centre of the charming coastal village of Worth Matravers, only a stones throw from the pretty village green with its pond and resident ducks. The village is surrounded by the spectacular rolling Purbeck hills, and the sea at Winspit is within a pleasant 15-minute walk. This is part of the renowned Jurassic Coast and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with World Heritage status. It is a magnificent walking and cycling area; footpaths can be followed almost directly from the cottage to join the coastal path which leads westwards to Chapmans Pool and the picturesque bays and villages of Kimmeridge and Lulworth, or eastwards to the seaside resort of Swanage where there is a large, sandy beach which gently slopes into the water. Here, visitors can enjoy swimming, paddling, boating, fishing and diving, or a ride on the steam train to the nearby historic village of Corfe Castle.

Worth Cottage is a traditional Purbeck stone property with pretty windows, wood beams and wood burning stoves. It provides attractive accommodation, furnished and equipped with care to a high standard. It accommodates eight to nine guests in four bedrooms. On the ground floor there is an open-plan fitted kitchen with a Provence style tiled floor, electric double oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator; a central dining area where meals can be enjoyed; a utility area with a washer/dryer, second refrigerator and freezer; a charming country house style sitting room with large sofas, a wood burning stove, flat screen television with a DVD player and Freesat; two large shower rooms with built in showers, basins and W.C.s; a spacious master bedroom with a king-size double bed, an oak floor, a vaulted ceiling with beams, and floor to ceiling windows. The added addition of a sofa, wood burning stove and television makes this another cosy place to relax.

An ancient door opens from the kitchen area to reveal a concealed staircase which leads up to three more bedrooms; a second master bedroom - a particularly spacious room with a king-size bed, beamed ceiling, plus an area to relax with a sofa, arm chair and third television. In addition there is a handsome double room and a twin bedroom. One folding bed and a sofa bed in the ground floor double bedroom can be provided for children, plus a travel cot and high chair. Central heating and electricity is at no extra charge. There is a telephone for incoming calls and local outgoing calls. WiFi internet is also available.

Worth Cottage has a delightful garden of almost an acre with a large lawn, attractive shrubberies, a barbecue area and a spacious terrace adjacent to the cottage with garden furniture. The garden is on two levels and is walled and gated. There is also a walled courtyard on the far side of the cottage with a gate providing a second access to the lane. Within a two-minute walk visitors can enjoy cream teas and meals at the small restaurant overlooking the green, or indulge in local ciders and pasties at the renowned Square and Compass - a public house with mesmerising sea views from its gardens. Two/three cars can be parked in the cottage drive and there is a limited rural bus service. Corfe Castle and Swanage are within a ten-minute drive.

We love this cottage and have visited 5 or 6 times. We would describe it as shabby/chic - perfect for family get togethers. Spacious and comfortable, well equipped cottage in very beautiful location, with easy road access to stunning Purbeck landmarks, towns and resorts. Good walking is available to coast and countryside. Outside area lovely for relaxing in the evening with highly recommended pub only a few metres away. Note that there is no access to evening meals in vRead moreillage but cottage very well equipped for self catering. No phone signal from cottage but wifi very good. Hide

Very interesting, cosy cottage with a lovely big garden, especially appreciated by the children in the family group. Plenty of walks to do from the cottage and nearby sheep field for kite flying! Sadly the house felt damp though the dehumidifier in downstairs bedroom was much appreciated. Great w/machine and tumble dryer.

A lovely cottage in an idyllic part of Dorset. A great choice for two families...apart yet together. We love the long kitchen table for leisurely meals and children's rainy day activities and the new spacious outside table with parasol It is our 6th year!!

Great location. Good sized property and perfect for a family gathering. Great garden play area. Situated in a lovely village with a duck pond and play area. Close to Swanage but nice to be away from the town and in the countryside.

A charming holiday home ideal for our group of 8. We found it warm and cosy. We enjoyed nights in and great walks right from the door. We loved the square and compass inn and the little unique fossil museum. We found everything we needed and loved the area. We would recommend.
