Handsome Grade II listed cottage offering thoughtfully styled, well-maintained period accommodation for eight guests, situated just one minute’s walk from the local pub in the pretty South Wight village of Shorwell.

Westview stands in the centre of the quaint, rural village of Shorwell on the south west of the island, and is only a five-minute drive from a peaceful beach at Brighstone. This lovely Grade II listed cottage is adjacent to a picturesque 11th century church, and a charming old public house with a large duck pond is within a one-minute walk. The village is bordered by rolling countryside and this is a fantastic walking area with easy access to the Tennyson Trail. The market town of Newport and the impressive mediaeval castle of Carisbrooke are within a ten-minute drive.

Westview is a large stone cottage which dates back to 1750 and adjoins a similar property. It has been sensitively renovated to retain original beams and fireplaces. The cottage has been equipped with care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for eight people in four bedrooms. It is furnished in a traditional style and is centrally heated. On the ground floor there is a spacious open-plan kitchen and attractive dining area. The kitchen is equipped with fitted units, an AGA, electric hob, electric cooker (with a double oven and grill), microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. (Please be aware that the AGA is only on during the colder months of late October to March). There is a separate utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer plus a cloakroom with a W.C and basin. The sitting room is also a spacious room furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. It has an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, and a flat screen television with Freeview and a DVD player.

Three steps lead up from the sitting room to a light and spacious twin bedroom. Upstairs, there are three large bedrooms; one double room with king-size bed, a TV and en-suite shower room with W.C and basin. There is a second double room and a twin room, plus a family bathroom with a bath, W.C and basin. Central heating and electricity is provided at no extra charge. A wooden cot (sleeps infant up to 18 months) or cot bed (sleeps child up to three years), and high chair can be made available. A telephone is provided and WiFi can be made available.

The cottage has a small landscaped seating area at the front of the cottage where visitors can relax whilst soaking up the last sun of the day. At the rear of the cottage, there is a courtyard with a barbecue and garden furniture. There is a playground in the village for young children and also a playing field. Two cars can be parked in the driveway at the side of the cottage. Visitors are occasionally asked not to park here when there is a wedding in the church as the drive then provides a secondary access to the church. There is a regular bus service and village shop within three minutes walk.

Lovely spacious cottage, fantastically equipped, very comfortable. Great location, loved catching the afternoon/early evening sun on the seating in front of the property. Only a stumble down the road to the village pub, pretty outside seating, a steam, with trout and water birds to watch! Highly recommend Westview.

Very nice cottage, good location - opposite one of the best pubs on the island. Only slight quibble - an extra bathroom would have been needed for 100% satisfaction.
