The cottage is located in the oldest part of Carisbrooke village which is a Conservation Area, lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The castle is only 0.3 miles away and can be glimpsed from the garden and main bedrooms. This is a wonderful walking area as within a short stroll of the cottage visitors can see local ponds, fords, a historic farm with its “Cowshed” antiques emporium, the lovely local church and a priory serving afternoon teas. In addition, the famous Tennyson Trail starts nearby which follows the downs westerly towards The Needles. Two popular Mediterranean restaurants, two public houses for meals (one with a large children’s play area), a local shop with post office, a health centre and pharmacy are all close by. The market town of Newport with its variety of shops, parks, entertainments and restaurants is just 1 mile away. The sandy beaches of the seaside towns of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are within a 20 minute drive.

One large or two small cars can be parked in the drive at the side of the cottage. Buses to many parts of the Island are close by.
