This Elizabethan stone cottage enjoys an attractive position on the edge of Langton Matravers, just a short drive from Swanage. It offers the perfect escape for families or small groups.

This Elizabethan stone cottage enjoys a picture-postcard position just on the edge of the charming Purbeck village of Langton Matravers, and within a few minutes drive of the seaside resort of Swanage with its wonderful sandy beach and traditional entertainments. Langton Matravers still retains its village shop and post office, and has a public house for meals, plus local beers and ciders within five minutes walk. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area. Footpaths can be followed directly from the village to join the nearby coastal path leading to Swanage, or the small coastal villages of Worth Matravers, Kimmeridge and Lulworth. This area is part of the World Heritage Jurassic coast and there are dramatic, unspoilt panoramic coastal views to be appreciated. There is a station for the steam railway within ten minutes walk and this can be caught into Swanage or into the nearby historic village of Corfe Castle.

This spacious cottage dates back to 1560 and still retains many original features including charming beamed ceilings and a large inglenook fireplace. It has been furnished and equipped to provide comfortable accommodation for six people in three bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine; a cloakroom with a WC; a charming dining room with a beamed ceiling and oval table; a spacious sitting room furnished with a sofa and arm chairs, a flat screen television with DVD player and Freeview plus a beautiful inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, so that visitors can enjoy relaxing in front of a real fire.

The staircase winds up gently inside a circular stone structure and is a unique feature of the cottage. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms; two double rooms, one of which has a basin, plus a twin room. There is a shower room with a walk in shower, basin and WC. A travel cot and high chair can be provided. Central heating and electricity are without extra charge.

The cottage has a large garden with an extensive lawn on a raised area at the rear of the cottage. It is adjacent to fields and is a great place to relax, and for games to be played. Garden furniture is provided so that meals can be enjoyed outside. There is parking space in the drive for three cars. A regular bus service and village shop are within five minutes walk.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

This cottage is very well located. We liked Swanage, the Railway, Dancing Ledge, Kimmeridge and Winspit. The local pub Kings Head is excellent. The cottage is spacious and comfortable. The bed is nice and firm. Visitors might wish to take additional kitchen cleaning equipment. What is provided is very basic.
