This Elizabethan stone cottage enjoys an attractive position on the edge of Langton Matravers, just a short drive from Swanage. It offers the perfect escape for families or small groups.

This Elizabethan stone cottage enjoys a picture-postcard position just on the edge of the charming Purbeck village of Langton Matravers, and within a few minutes drive of the seaside resort of Swanage with its wonderful sandy beach and traditional entertainments. Langton Matravers still retains its village shop and post office, and has a public house for meals, plus local beers and ciders within five minutes walk. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area. Footpaths can be followed directly from the village to join the nearby coastal path leading to Swanage, or the small coastal villages of Worth Matravers, Kimmeridge and Lulworth. This area is part of the World Heritage Jurassic coast and there are dramatic, unspoilt panoramic coastal views to be appreciated. There is a station for the steam railway within ten minutes walk and this can be caught into Swanage or into the nearby historic village of Corfe Castle.

This spacious cottage dates back to 1560 and still retains many original features including charming beamed ceilings and a large inglenook fireplace. It has been furnished and equipped to provide comfortable accommodation for six people in three bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine; a cloakroom with a WC; a charming dining room with a beamed ceiling and oval table; a spacious sitting room furnished with a sofa and arm chairs, a flat screen television with DVD player and Freeview plus a beautiful inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, so that visitors can enjoy relaxing in front of a real fire.

The staircase winds up gently inside a circular stone structure and is a unique feature of the cottage. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms; two double rooms, one of which has a basin, plus a twin room. There is a shower room with a walk in shower, basin and WC. A travel cot and high chair can be provided. Central heating and electricity are without extra charge.

The cottage has a large garden with an extensive lawn on a raised area at the rear of the cottage. It is adjacent to fields and is a great place to relax, and for games to be played. Garden furniture is provided so that meals can be enjoyed outside. There is parking space in the drive for three cars. A regular bus service and village shop are within five minutes walk.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely atmospheric cottage dating back to the mid sixteenth century. Accommodation is spacious and it is reasonably well equipped, though would benefit from wi-fi. Good parking for up to three cars. Location is convenient for Swanage and Studland. We felt it was outstanding value for money and would use again.

The cottage is in a good location to quickly get on the main roads. Although there is some traffic coming passed the cottage in the day, we found it very quiet at night. Having a tiled floor in the entrance hall and kitchen when coming in with a wet dog was very convenient! Nice to be able to park our car on the driveway.

The cottage itself is great and a perfect location especially for exploring. It could do with a bit of TLC and a little bit of money spending on it.

The cottage is exactly the kind of cosy Purbeckian cottage that we imagined we wanted to be in for Christmas. There was a lovely welcome package waiting for us. We had a beautiful Christmas and really felt at home!

cottage has everything you need if you are just using it as a base camp like we did, close to the sea side, 1h away charmouth (by far the best place for fossils) plenty of near by attraction and takeways/restaurants in swanage. also 1h away from the new forrest (great place to go). recommended.

The cottage was in a great location, lovely garden and owner. Has great history. We felt it was let down by dated and dusty soft furnishings, bedding, sofa, seat covers. Bathroom and kitchen were updated to a good standard. The cleanliness could of been better.

Plenty of room, three good sized bedrooms and very well equipped. Good location as a base for visiting lots of local places. We didn't need to walk far up the road to find a footpath out onto the cliffs, or to the pub. Off road parking for at least two cars. We found that the road outside isn't too busy at night so it didn't disturb us at all.

This is a lovely Tudor cottage with a large and fairly secluded back garden overlooking a wood-bordered field. It is ideally situated for walkers, and is, for shoppers, only a short distance from Swanage. The cottage interior is warm and homely, with a large sitting room. We would certainly return to this appealing cottage.

Beautiful cottage !. Even better than it looks in the photographs. We felt instantly 'at home' and it was very cosy in the evenings when we returned from from a good day out. This cottage is very well located. We liked Swanage, the Railway, Dancing Ledge, Kimmeridge and Winspit. The local pub Kings Head is excellent. The cottage is spacious and comfortable. The bed is nice and firm. Visitors might wish to take additional kitchen cleaning equipment. What is provided is very basic.
